Lilliput Q7 Reviews

Tries to be too many things, excels at none.

It seems that they tried to make this a studio monitor (plenty of I/O), an on-camera monitor (1/4 mounts, scopes), a TV studio camera monitor (U-bracket and tally light), and the build quality is ok. It's made of metal, but not a touchscreen, and the menu is not terrible easy to navigate as the buttons are on the top and the label for them faces the back. Also, the battery does not communicate with the monitor as it uses a plate that plugs into the 2.1mm power port instead of interfacing with the unit directly, so you have absolutely no bearing on how much longer the battery will last. The latency is not quite fast enough for cinema focus-pulling, and there is a power switch on the back and red power button on the top. This button on the top only turns the unit on after you switch the button on the back, but does not turn off the unit off. Maybe it's just my unit, but that doesn't bode well for the quality.

good monitor for the money

I bought this to use working as Firs AC, focus puller. It has good resolution and has the main features necessary, peaking, etc, pretty intuitive user interface. More function buttons with shortcuts to menu items would be nice. Part of the battery adaptor plate tends to slide apart when pulling off the battery, but only a minor nuisance. The battery adaptor plates are plastic--not flimsy, but might not hold up to rough handling. It is good enough for my needs--sharp enough--and the lowest price with the needed specs. I have not fully noted how true a representation the picture is, but it seems neither remarkably bad or good in that department.
