Ooma HD3 Overview

Make cordless voice calls over the Ooma VoIP phone service with the HD3 Handset from Ooma. Equipped with a 2" color display, the cordless HD3 Handset supports wideband HD Voice technology, which is designed to deliver double the audio quality of typical narrowband calls. The handset also supports the DECT 6.0 cordless telephony standard, which helps to ensure optimal range, security, and sound quality.

The HD3 Handset's picture caller ID feature displays a picture of the caller along with their caller ID information. The online phonebook lets you sync your Yahoo, Google, Facebook, and LinkedIn contacts. An intercom lets you talk with other handset users in your home, while one-touch voicemail makes it easy to check your messages. Other features include call waiting and a call log.

The HD3 handset requires Ooma service and an Ooma Telo device.

Worthy upgrade to Ooma HD2 handsets

Have been using the original handsets which came with my Ooma Telo circa 2015 (which turned out to be the HD2 model). Those were hard to grip, overly rounded edges, but they worked reasonably well. However in the past few years they've been charging and holding a charge less and less (even with fresh rechargeable batteries). Got these new HD3 models as I was worried Ooma might stop selling them altogether at some point. They paired easily with my Telo base and automatically updated their firmware (one took quite a long time and seemed to get stuck in a loop several time, but the other updated quickly and without issue). They are easier to grip (less rounded edges) and have all the same basic functionality. The numeric keys are also easier to distinguish and work with. After a bit over a week now, they're working great.

After spending multiple sessions with OOMA support and looking thru their community forums their support people finally decided that I have received one of their many defective units. They agreed to eventually send me a replacement HD3 handset. They even had me purchase a replacement set of batteries to make sure that their unit was defective prior to agreeing to send a replacement unit. The battery level would drop to 50% charged until I removed a battery and reinstalled it. Then the level would be at 100% for a few hours, This problem repeated over and over. Well the replacement unit has the same problem as the original. Not sure what happens now.

This can be synced with either version of Ooma Telo Base Stations.
