If you're pining for the old days of center-mount Bolex-style handgrips but also want to live in the current, electronic scene, CAMEOGEAR created the CameoGrip Retro Handgrip to satisfy your needs. The retro look of the right-handed CameoGrip will pop when attached to your gear, but it also has a comfortable feel and is made of sturdy aluminum, stainless steel, and plastic.
Powered by your camera with a draw of 400mW, the CameoGrip provides electronic functions such as iris, focus, zoom, and run/stop to cameras that allow the function via a LANC port, or it provides focus, zoom, and run/stop to a Multi-Terminal port. It has an 8-pin Hirose connector for camera control, two programmable buttons for your choice of function, one button for run/stop, and a 2-axis joystick to control zoom, iris, or focus. A micro-USB port allows for firmware upgrades.
If you're not a Bolex-style user, a rosette adapter is included to mount the CameoGrip onto other gear such as a shoulder rig, tripod pan arm, or camera cage. An 8-pin Hirose to Multi-Terminal cable is included, and an 8-pin Hirose to 2.5mm LANC cable is available separately. See below for a list of cameras tested with the CameoGrip.
