Moza Air 2 Overview

Control your camera's focus while on a gimbal with this Moza Air 2 Kit which includes a Moza Air 2 gimbal and the iFocus Wireless Follow Focus Motor. The Moza Air 2 is a 3-axis handheld gimbal stabilizer with high-torque motors and a 9.3 lb weight capacity. It has 12 physical buttons and a joystick for control, shows your status and configuration on an OLED display, and has many other features.

The wireless follow focus motor allows you to pull precise focus from 328' away over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The motor requires no calibration and can be controlled by a smartphone app or a separately available hand unit. Read more below about the items in this kit.

Moza Air 2 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer

The Moza Air 2 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer has been upgraded over previous versions with newly optimized high-torque motors, a 9.25 lb weight capacity, and many other features. The high weight capacity allows for a much wider range of cameras to be used, as well as wider combinations of cameras and lenses. The Air 2 also supports the optional Moza iFOCUS Intelligent Wireless Lens Control System, which comes in different versions to offer standard and automatic (with preset start/end points) focus and zoom control directly from the Air 2.

Another standout aspect of the Air 2 is that it clears and provides an unobstructed view of the camera LCD thanks to an angled motor arm. There is a total of 12 physical buttons for controlling the gimbal and camera, as well as adjusting settings such as shutter, aperture, and exposure compensation (where applicable). The joystick, smart wheel, and smart trigger controls are customizable in multiple combinations for different shooting styles. Most of the settings and customizations, as well as the gimbal status, are confirmed on an OLED display that provides intuitive information feedback.

The Air 2 features eight different operational modes, including single-axis and dual-axis modes such as pan follow and pan tilt follow (please see the Features section below for the full list). These modes allow for different shooting styles that Moza calls Sport Gear, FPV, Panorama, Tracking, and Inception styles. Inception, for example, allows you to rotate the camera as you push in on a subject.

The gimbal runs on four included lithium-ion 18650 batteries which provide up to 16 hours of runtime. The batteries are replaceable for continued operation. Designed with Moza's SPARK power supply system, the Air 2 has an input port that provides an alternate way of powering the gimbal, and three output ports for powering the camera and accessories using optional Moza adapter cables.

The Air 2 also offers various time-lapse functions including motion-lapse, tracking time-lapse, and zoom time-lapse, each allowing you to achieve a different look. Other features include an efficient auto-tuning system that selects optimal parameters based on your total load.

The Air 2 is easy to balance thanks to visual markers and other identifiable information. It also has a mechanical memory quick release system that helps readjust the camera without having to rebalance the gimbal. For tripod mounting and attaching accessories, the Moza Air 2 provides a 3/8"-16 threaded hole on the front of the handle and 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded holes on the bottom.

Moza iFocus Wireless Follow Focus Motor

Use the Moza iFocus Wireless Follow Focus Motor to perform precise focus pulls when using your Moza Air 2, Air, AirCross 2, or AirCross gimbal. The motor needs no calibration, and it can be attached to any rod or handle with a 15mm diameter such as a rod system, gimbal arm, or tripod handle.

The Follow Focus Motor connects to the separately available Moza Follow Focus Hand Unit via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi from up to 328' away. It can also be controlled by the Moza smartphone app via Bluetooth for manual focus and to set automated parameters. You can also connect to the Moza Air 2 which provides CAN communication for power and control using the gimbal's interface. The motor also allows you to preset start and stop endpoints for accurate rack focus shots, which can be controlled by the Hand Unit or by the smartphone app.

The 600mAh lithium-ion battery provides approximately twenty-four hours of operation and takes approximately three hours to fully charge. A CAN motor cable and an adjustable gear ring are included.

Moza Air 2 Reviews

Avoid this gimbal at all costs

Completely unreliable. Would work how you want it to 50% of the time, even with calibration, proper balancing, not overloading it (Gh5 sans cage). Now it won't even start up. All batteries are charged (because they go bad on you for no rhyme or reason), and the gimbal will show the logo page and then turn right off. This was a complete waste of money. Try to find something that will work from a reputable company.

Must take batteries out

I've owned the Moza Air 2 for two years. At first, I too had problems with the batteries dying prematurely. Once I started taking the batteries out when it was not in use, my problems with the batteries went away. I've had the same set of batteries for over a year and they are still going strong. This is a good gimbal, has never let me down. The only issue is that it doesn't fold up small. But if you need a cheap gimbal that works well, this is it.

Worst Gimbal ever

I used this for a couple of month. Hard to setup the balance on this. The worst is the batteries. Sometimes they charge sometimes they dont. I've bought another set just in case and out of those only 2 batteries work. Its seems like if you dont keep them charge they use lose power and wont charge again. Firmware updates are very hard to do. THeir software is too clunky. I finally took a loss and traded my in for the DJI Ronin SC. I should have done that to start with.

Lost all hope in MOZA. After upgrading firmware on Moza Air 2. Everything went wrong. There should be a way to revert back to original firmware version. Used my moza air once and unable to be used ever again. Such a down experience. I do not recommend

My worst purchase

I've had this Moza Air2 for 2 years and I hate it. The battery become dead so quickly. Completely gone which cannot be rechargeable. I've purchased battery set($49) 3 times already. I got the last set recently I hope these last longer. This gimbal was the worst $599 purchase ever.

Is it me?

I've gotten some use out of this thing but I think something is off. Never had issues with it dying on me like some of us in here, but either I just don't know how this gimbal works or this is just not a very solid product. I've had it for maybe 2 years and I've never once felt like I've been able to balance it properly. I've watched countless tutorials on YouTube, read plenty of articles and I still feel like I can't get the balancing right, and i definitely cant get gimbal the moves right without the motor giving up on me when I try to add some actual motion, i mean, i see people running with these things and their stuff is still smooth. The reviews on here are more negative and critical than they are positive and satisfactory so maybe it's not completely on me? I don't know but it's certainly annoying to feel a bit lost.

Universal Gimbal for DSLR and Mirrorless

Supports Nikon D800 and Sony a7ii with different lenses. It is easy to setup and balance. Operation can be controlled without ifocus. It is heavier than what I expect.

Willnit work with the bmpcc4k?
Asked by: Oliver
Yes, I use it with the pcc4k. I do not have a cage, but I did need to use a quick release plate to lift the camera up 3/4 inch or so to get it to fit. I believe many cages will let you mount the camera further to the left on the gimbal which will also allow it to mount.

It cannot. Moza does not recommend using this gimbal with the Panasonic EVA1. Instead they suggest the larger Moza Pro for cameras such as the EVA1, B&H # MOMP3AG. https://bhpho.to/2rVeXrq

Although the Canon XF400 will be within the weight requirement, it is a bit long for use with the Moza Air 2 (or similar gimbal). It could be used, but likely the tilt axis will be restricted.
