You will find the lens is well matched with the sensor and processor of this camera. It will be sharp over all throughout the zoom range. If your are needing extra sharpness, you can do what all pros do: use a tripod and set the aperture to f/5.6-8 for maximum sharpness/image quality.

X.FINE, or Extra Fine, is the highest jpg quality. Menu has it on the first page. If you set the camera to the panoramic setting and go to menu, there is also a panorama size choice you can make, as well.

How can you tel when battery is fully charged. There's a solid green light on charger when plugged in, but that never changes, new battery and depleted battery?
On the battery charger (model #BC-TRX) there are three rectangular shaped lights just below the Sony logo as well as round amber power light to the right.
These rectangular lights light up green in sequence from left to right as the charging progresses. When the battery is totally charged all green lights will be lit.

Does this camera have dust issues? In other words, have any of your had dust penetrate into the barrel or sensor?
No dust issue with my camera. Been on the beach several times with it and didn't have any dust inside the lens.
