The BB-101 ButtonBumps for Sony E-Mount from ShutterBands adhere to buttons that are flush to the camera body and are hard to locate while you are looking through the viewfinder. However, the 10.5mm copper-colored shutter release button, the 8.3mm copper-colored focus hold buttons, and the clear ButtonBumps make it easier to find camera buttons on a Sony body or lens.
Been using the HC-X2000 for only a short time, but was finding it difficult to locate the menu button, OIS and other User assigned buttons in low light (e.g. event videography in dark rooms/auditoriums) or when shooting using the viewfinder. Tactile feedback was very poor as the majority of buttons are recessed and so easy to pass over. Tried adhesive bumper pads off Amazon, but they were all too big for the small camcorder buttons and too thick, sticking out more than what was needed. Finally stumbled across a discussion of ButtonBumps on a forum ... was unaware of them til then. The various sizes and shapes appealed so placed an order, and they recently arrived and I got to work installing. Cleaned all buttons with the alcohol swab, and then started peeling and applying the ButtonBumps (Bumps) Its fiddly work. Sometimes when peeling off the Bumps the adhesive would separate and I would have to push it back in place using the small white pick (that is supplied in the pack). Then when the Bump does come away it was tricky to move it (using the pick) to the position on the button. Often it would be off centre or move when trying to separate the pick from the Bump. Good light and patience definitely called for... Once the Bump was positioned then I pressed and held it in place, with finger pressure, for about 30 seconds. They advise giving the Bumps a full 24 hours for the adhesive to set. I love how slim the Bumps are...just enought to provide the tactile feeling to locate the button without having to look, and reducing hte 'slipperyness' of the camcorders buttons...so finger tends to stay on the button while you are operating the camera. Great idea, but will have to wait to see if the Bumps stay in place, as I see other reviews saying that 'feel off'.
This is a handy little item. While I dont need the shutter bands for this camera (Sony a 6300), the button bumps make it very easy to feel that controls and allow me to operate them without removing my eye from the viewfinder. These are well thought out and suitable for a number of different Sony cameras. Well done.
