The Deity Microphones V.Lav is an omnidirectional lavalier microphone offering transparent audio capture and broad device compatibility for videographers, YouTubers, and sound recordists. With a built-in microprocessor that automatically configures its TRRS connector to work with most 3.5mm mic jacks, the V.Lav is compatible with a variety of DSLRs, camcorders, mobile devices, and portable audio recorders. Use the provided foam windscreen to minimize plosives, or attach the supplied faux fur windshield to reduce wind noise in outdoor environments. The V.Lav includes a tie clip and convenient carrying pouch.

Note:
The V.Lav is not compatible with Sony's UWP wireless systems or the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.

Auto-Configuring 3.5mm Connector

The V.Lav incorporates a microprocessor that automatically adapts its 3.5mm TRRS connector to work with most 3.5mm microphone jacks. Out of the box, the V.Lav is compatible with DSLRs, camcorders, smartphones and tablets (late-model iOS devices require Apple's Lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter), portable audio recorders, bodypack transmitters, and laptops.

16.4' Attached Cable

With a 16.4' cable, the V.Lav offers plenty of slack to run the mic into a camera on a tripod. Simply clip it onto your clothes, plug it into your device's microphone or headset jack, then start recording.

Clear, Natural Sound

By employing an omnidirectional condenser capsule, the V.Lav picks up sound equally from all directions. In addition, its flat frequency response is optimized for coloration-free audio capture.

Long Battery Life

The V.Lav uses two LR41 cell batteries, enclosed in a CNC aluminum housing along with the microprocessor chip. Battery power is only used when the V.Lav is determining how to adapt to the microphone input you've plugged it into. After the V.Lav has adapted to your device, the microphone capsule then uses the voltage from your device, and the LR41 batteries are put back to sleep.

Convenient Accessories

The included foam windscreen and faux fur windshield minimize wind noise and vocal plosives. The cord organizer allows for clean cable management, and the rugged carry case is perfect for safely carrying the entire kit.

You can't beat this mic. It works well for my live steaming and YouTube videos. Long wire compact and easy to use.

This was a great add on to my wireless Rode microphones and it produces great sound. Especially for the price I highly recommend this product.

Great little mic!

These perform exactly as promised and are well put together. Just bought 5 for a project. They work with the iPhone's lightning to 3.5mm adapter just fine. I have had mixed results connecting to the single in/out TRRS headphone/microphone jack on a mac. If you are trying to use a TRRS headphone/mic splitter on a Mac it takes a lot of plugging and unplugging but eventually mac will recognize it properly and start using it. Would love some official documentation on this. It would be great Tip: What's not well documented but easy to do is you can flip the lapel clip around by unscrewing the mic windscreen. I also would love to see Deity release an adapter that allows charging and headphone out on the iPhone's lightning connector. Right now it's a string of dongles. Anyway, great results with this mic so far.

Newbie confusion

The statement that it works with most 3.5mm jacks is uselessly vague, inspiring hope rather than imparting knowledge. B&H is doing the best work by a vendor to educate the buying public. But not enough info about the little bits that are tripping people up. This pandemic as presented the challenge of very quickly getting the knowledge and technology to make videos that don't stink. I had the question Why does the v.lav work with my smartphone and Canon 70D and not with the Fuji XT2? Digging for the answer is an initiation I guess. Some jacks have 3 black lines and are called TRRS. Some jacks have 2 black lines and are called TRS. Some cameras can use a mic which is unpowered. Some cameras need the mic to supply its own power. In spite of having tiny batteries the v.lav is unpowered. The v.lav works very well plugged into a USB-C adapter and the Google Pixel 3 and plugged directly into the Canon 70D. I made my first video for remote teaching and my voice sounded good. Now to work on my presentation. At this point I don't know if the Fuji XT2 needs a TRRS to TRS adapter or a power supply or both.

Overpriced

This mic will not work with several of my devices. Others it works with fine but it's fairly average quality similar to some slightly less expensive options. It says in the description that it takes LR44 batteries, so i bought some just to find out it takes LR41 batteries. That makes me all kinds of angry. Still to this day the description is incorrect.

Ignore negative Doesn't work with XT-3 review

This mic is has a clearly visible TRRS jack, which is design for use with mobile devices (4 pole). You need to use a regular stereo TRS jack (3 pole) for most cameras and 'regular audio devices. You can also purchase a TRRS to TRS adapter and it will work. Know what you are talking about before posting a negative review.

Good sound - reduces echo

But at the same time, does not make the speaker's voice too dry; you still hear some background sound, so you feel as if your at the event (if that is what you want).

So far so good

I've had the mic for a month now. Seems to work well. Does a great job of picking up my voice better during video conference calls. No complaints.
