This is a manual lens. It does take good static video, as long as your not needing to refocus or you want to make that part of your shot. Sounds like you may need a cinema lens.

I haven't used for portraits, but the lens is a joy to use for street and low light, pin sharp and no aberration whatsoever - that I noticed. Almost unbelievable performance for the price.
