Xcellon CR-CFX40 Reviews
Fast, well-designed card reader that feels built for professionals
As someone who regularly works with high bitrate video files, I appreciate a card reader that keeps my workflow moving, and this one does exactly that. Offloading footage from my CFexpress Type B cards is quick and reliable, which means I spend less time waiting and more time editing. One thing I really like is the overall build quality. The aluminum housing feels solid and durable, yet it's still lightweight enough to keep in my camera bag. It feels like a piece of gear that's designed for regular use on set and in the edit suite. I also appreciate the built-in cooling. CFexpress cards can get warm during long transfers, so it's nice knowing this reader is designed to help manage heat with both the internal fan and aluminum body. Even during larger file transfers, it has performed consistently for me, I've had no issues. And CFexpress cards are expensive, so keeping them as cool as possible should extend the life of the media too, which is another huge benefit. I'm very impressed with this reader, it's been great. It is a well-designed card reader that fits perfectly into my professional video workflow. It's fast, well built, easy to use, and dependable. This has been an excellent tool to have in my kit. Great!
This card reader performs great when transferring to a ssd. The transfer time for 20gb took about 16 seconds. The built in fan helps the reader stay cool compared to other ones which often get too hot. Due to the small internal fan, it makes some noise but it isn’t obnoxious. I also like that this reader has a bit of weight to it because it feels more durable. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]
