Straddling the line between compact and full-sized models, the 8x30 X-Trail All-Metal Field Binoculars are built using traditional Porro prisms that offer a rich depth field and anti-reflection fully coated lenses to enhance light transmission for accurate color representation and improved contrast. Complementing these features are moderate magnification and objectives, and a lens diameter that allows these binoculars to be highly portable and easy to use, but with a wide 60° field of view. This generous field of view allows you to take in wide swaths of the landscape and immerse yourself in wonders of the world. The aluminum chassis has a textured exterior that provides a solid slip-resistant grip, with the natural ergonomic design for which Porro prisms are known, to make it comfortable and balanced in the hand. A large center focusing wheel and right-eye diopter help you bring your subjects into crisp focus, with fold-down rubber eye cups for easy use whether you wear eyeglass, sunglasses, or no glasses.

Sharp field binoculars

I special ordered these glasses from b&h and they arrived at my door in under a week. The eye cups do not fold down. You cannot use them with eyewear. Also the minimum focus is 10 feet. Compared to my nat geo plastic 8x42 porros the x-trail metal field glasses are heavier but at the same time sharper and brighter. The color is true, no yellow or blue cast. And the edge to edge sharpness is better than any binocular I've ever used. My only complaint is the leatherette already feels peely. And I find myself tamping it down at certain points.
