Measuring 45.9 x 24.7 x 40.9 inches (W x L x H), the Inovativ Voyager 42 EVO with X-Top Keyboard Shelf is a lightweight equipment cart designed to carry camera gear, tools, and accessories in the studio or on location. Inovativ's patented SLAS (Self-Locking Adjustable Shelving) system requires no tools for assembly/disassembly, so you can build or break down the cart with ease in approximately two minutes. The X-Top shelf is height adjustable up to 10" in 2" increments, and comfortably accommodates a keyboard and mouse. The cart collapses to a compact flight case measuring 8.25" thick, with a travel handle, integrated rolling wheels, and a spring-loaded latch system. In flight case form, the cart becomes portable and easy to transport at just 78 pounds.

Two threaded rail plates are built into the top shelf for convenient attachment of 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 accessories. The pneumatic tires incorporate 100% sealed bearing wheels and Inovativ's premium foot brake system. The equipment cart shelves are powder coated, and the uprights and machined parts are type II and III anodized. The rest of the cart is constructed using 5052 and 6061 aluminum. All Voyager EVO carts are designed and made in the USA with rivet- and weld-free construction.

Finally made the decision to purchase the cart. I've rented them as well as magliners and other production carts, but this has proven to be a worthy tool that's made moving equipment around much easier while still being light and collapsable. Worth the money, a long term investment that will make on location and studio work so much nicer.

Decent cart with lots of room for improvement

Overall I think this cart is okay and there really is no other manufacturer that is at this level of quality. That said, my Voyager EVO 42 came with a number of areas that definitely need improvement. All of the plastic parts have very sharp edges. The first time I built it I sliced open my finger. They need to spend a little time to post-process the plastic parts they get out of the molds to get rid of all of the sharp edges. Those sharp edges are also present on the orange aluminum support bar under the top shelf. You have to feel around to assemble/disassemble and it would be nice to not have to have my 4 thousand buck cart not be uncomfortable to use. That aluminum support mentioned above also needs to be flipped 90 degrees because there is still quite a bit of flex in the orientation it is built, so if you have heavy parts on the top shelf there is a lot more flex with the x-top shelf than with the standard 4-sided shelf. The x-top part that is removable is only removable with a 4mm hex key and a socket wrench to hold the locknut. These tools are not included either so you need to have them with you in order to remove the panel. They should have thumbscrews and captive nuts for this part to eliminate the need for tools. The wheels that do not swivel can become swivel with the removal of a single screw. Unfortunately, they put the screw in such a location that you have to completely disassemble the tire to gain access to the screw. So it's definitely not something that can be easily done and they really need to change that because sometimes you need to maneuver and have all wheels able to swivel in tight spaces. It is unreasonable to take off everything on the cart, flip it up to remove the wheels, disassemble and reassemble everything just to unlock the swivel function. They say they use all stainless steel hardware. That is not correct. The only stainless steel parts are the button head hex screws. The rest of the hardware is standard non-stainless steel and that was disappointing because I would have expected at the very least to use all stainless steel hardware on the wheels where they would get wet sometimes. At this price, it should be 100% stainless steel hardware throughout. The top shelf at the lowest setting is still a little too high for some scenarios. And the very highest setting seems way too tall for any scenario. The latches that keep it in the storage configuration are meant to accept padlocks, but the holes are so tiny that only the very small low-security padlocks would work. The anodized parts are very rough. The tubes that hold the top shelf seem thin. The crossbars are also very rough with sharp edges. In conclusion, I think at this price I need to have better quality.

According to the manufacturer, the Inovativ Voyager 42 EVO Equipment Cart with X-Top Keyboard Shelf (B&H # INVEX0042) does not include the Inovativ X-Top Close Out for Voyager 42 (B&H # IN210213).
