This is a very handy device for use on tripod mounts. It secures itself to the standard tripod socket of your camera. It is a Arca-type compatible dovetail mount. Arca-type is the kind of tripod head that looks like a little vice with a knob. Turn the knob and it squeezes the dovetail (angled) mound tight. The combination of the 3 Legged Thing and a Arca-type tripod head seems to me to be as secure as can be achieved. The 3 Legged Thing's mounting screw feels so very perfect and secure when mated to my camera. This L bracket makes it very easy to alternate between portrait and landscape.

Purchased a NEW Nikon Z7 II and needed a new L-Bracket. This one was a PERFECT fit. Like the color since it will be easy to pull out and also differentiate from my husband's Canon one.

Fine product. Popped on my z6 11 just fine. Works just like my other RRS bracket....at a better price.

Using an L bracket illuminates the hassle of trying to rotate your camera to get a level portrait positioning. This L bracket is very light and extremely well-made. I have used one for about the past 18 months and just purchased another for my husband as a gift to use on his Z6 camera. Highly recommend the use of an L bracket. In comparison to some other extremely well built versions, this one is reasonably priced.

Fits Nicely on Nikon Z6

Bracket fits well on a Nikon Z6. Even though the portrait edge of the bracket is close to the left side of the Z6, access to side ports is fine. Slim size of bracket and smooth edges makes it hardly noticeable when using the Z6 handheld.

I use the Z6 with 70-200mm lens on tripod. I usually mount tripod plate to the lens rather than the camer. Major creepage because of the weight involved. Will this L-bracket solve this problem?
Asked by: Andy
No, it will not. If you are using a large lens on a smaller camera body and the lens is front-heavy, it is recommended to connect the camera/lens setup to your tripod by using the tripod mount on your lens, as this will better reposition the camera/lens' center of balance to prevent any unnecessary pull on the tripod head. The use of an L-bracket on a camera will not correct the imbalance of a front-heavy telephoto lens. An L-bracket's sole function is to allow you to quickly reorient your camera's position from horizontal to vertical while keeping the alignment of your lens in the same position so you do not have to recompose your image.

I use the Cotton Carrie strap and holster. Can you mount the hub somewhere on the bracket?
Asked by: Tom
You can mount the Cotton Carrier Hub to the bottom of the 3 Legged Thing Zelda L-bracket. However, it would need to be removed upon placing the camera with the bracket attached to an Arca-type head.

I'm using it with a RRS BH-40 (with RRS quick-release clamp) and it works perfectly ---- no problem whatsoever. I'm also using it with a BENRO geared head and it works perfectly on that too.

Can I use it with a Ronin-SC?
Asked by: Curtis
Hi Curtis! The Zelda L-bracket for the Z5/6/7 has a 1/4"-20 mounting point that will accept the Ronin-SC plate, however, like with all motorized gimbals, proper functionality of the Ronin-SC will depend on what your lens/camera combination is with regards to its weight/center of mass and balancing.

No issue there, bracket can stay on permanently. That's how I use it.
