DIGITAL FORECAST X TS Mini Overview

In a compact and portable form factor, the DIGITAL FORECAST Bridge X_TS mini provides SDI/HDMI up/down/cross-conversion and signal measurement functions for up to 1080p60 signals. The lightweight device allows signal integrity checks, up to 8 channels of audio level metering, and simultaneous test pattern generation and measurement. Up to 1080p60 resolution input and output is supported over 3G/HD/SD-SDI and HDMI 1.3 connections.

An intuitive workflow via the 5" screen lets you select the signal type to display, monitor waveform, vectorscope, jitter, and other analysis factors, set the output resolution and frame rate, and more. The signal can be viewed in standard full screen mode or in split screen mode where the video is displayed on the left side and measurement details on the right.

A power supply is included with international plug adapters, but optional L-Series and LP-E6 battery plates are also supported on the rear for portable use (see Accessories tab). A 1/4"-20 mounting thread is provided on the bottom.

Great debugging tool

I purchased this on a whim to add to my "crash bag" of debugging tools (other tools are a Whirlwind QBox for Audio and a small Fluke voltmeter). I needed it to debug a problem the next day; saved a live show that was five minutes from curtain. A great tool for basic SDI and HDMI debugging when you need to see or generate a signal. Used like this, the battery adapter, battery, and charger are a must. I also use it as a portable monitor for aiming and focusing Blackmagic Design cameras which are mounted so you can't see the built-in monitor (or don't have one) (cameras are using SDI output, so I configure the HDMI to not be a clean feed and plug this into the HDMI). Only giving 4 stars because it doesn't do higher resolutions.

Unfortunately it's the best you can get for this price

To me this monitor seem quite overpriced and not quite usable. I planned to use it to diagnose long cables issues, and an Eye diagram option for this price is unique. But it just won't recognise the signal that other devices accept very stable. E.g. it barely lock HD-SDI 1080p24 4:2:2 signal over a 20 meter cables, while our Blackmagic and AJA routers, Sony monitors and Deltacast IO boards work well with the same cable model 50m long. XTS won't even see the signal is there. Cable length meter is very inaccurate. Vectorscope is not readable and inaccurate. It has built-in test patterns and you can send some 'SMPTE' bars via SDI/HDMI out, but do not use them for testing other equipment. They are not proper SMPTE bars. Additionally it seem quite fragile so a cage is a must have. Pretty expensive toy.

The DIGITAL FORECAST Bridge X_TS mini can be powered using two different batteries.You will need either one of these plates, https://bhpho.to/4eAlDBEA . One uses the Sony L type battery and the other uses a Canon LP-E6 type battery.

Can you monitor individual audio channels through the headphone jack, or just 1/2?

Manufacturer only specifies level monitoring for multiple channels. Audio monitoring may not be available beyond channels 1/2 from the earphone output.

Does it support an output embedded audio? Do the power supply and the battery charger work on 240v /50hz ? Can the Np-f6600mah battery replaced by np-f2200mah for the related device?

It does supported embedded audio through SDI. This is a multi-voltage system that ships with a Universal Power Supply with International Plug Adapters. However a Sony NP-F style battery plate is optional, it is not included. What are the differences between this and the full-size Bridge X_TS, besides VGA and AES connectivity? Are the SDI/HDMI functions identical on the two units?

The main difference is that the mini is only compatible with HDMI/SDI while the full size includes VGA, AES, analog audio and others. The HDMI/SDI functions are identical on both units with the mini offering enhanced monitoring, allowing test pattern generation and measurement at the same time.
