Great for the price, weird IP addressing

For the price and what it does this is great, but has some weird behavior around IP address assignment. Positives: Both Art-Net and sACN independently assignable per channel, minimal latency, option for PoE but also easy AC adapter, etherCON connector. 3-pin not 5-pin is a plus for me. The negative: IP address assignment behavior is weird. The default address (2.0.0.1) is in a block that's assigned to RIPE NCC, not in one of the standard nonroutable blocks. If it's set to expect a DHCP server and doesn't find one, it gives up and is unreachable rather than self-assigning (not into one of the nonroutable blocks which is what I'd expect, not to the default address, nor most-recently-used). Pushing the recessed factory-reset button will bring it back up at the 2.0.0.1 address. This behavior cost me a *lot* of time and stress troubleshooting an hour before door at a show last night. Hopefully the heads-up will save someone else from that particular nightmare.

Great PoE ArtNet Device for the Price

I have 6 of these running in an installation. They've been flawless and running non-stop for 2 years. The only reason why I gave this 4 stars is because when you login to the IP address to configure you have to re input all of the settings into the device. If not, you'll lose any static IP addresses you've set. Other than that, they work well for the price.

Can a 3-pin connector be converted to 5-pin to control the Nova 600 and Nanlite 500/720?

Yes, you can step down from 5-pin DMX to 3-pin DMX with the following adapter cable: the Kopul DMX35PA-S 3-Pin Male to 5-Pin Female DMX Adapter Cable (6"). Some functionality may be lost, but it would be minimal.
