This Lens Mount Adapter from Viltrox is designed to allow a Canon EF or EF-S-mount lens to be used with a Micro Four Thirds camera with full electronic communication. The underside of this adapter's detachable tripod foot is tapped with a 1/4"-20 accessory thread, providing direct attachment to tripods or quick release plates that feature 1/4"-20 mounts. For ease of upgrading its firmware, this adapter also includes a micro-USB port.

The Ef-M2 is not a newer version of this adapter. The M2 is a focal reducer/speed booster giving you a wider field of view and reducing the 2x crop factor of the sensor in the BMPCC4K to something closer to a Super 35 or APS-C sensor.
This M1 adapter is just a straight adapter meaning you will still have that 2x crop factor.
The advantage of that is if you have something like the 18-35 f1.8 from SIgma, you could use the M2 to have the lens perform as it would on an APS-C sensor, and then this M1 to utilize that crop factor to get more reach and have it perform like a 36-70mm lens. So rather than carry 2 lenses, you could just carry the 2 adapters which might be more appealing if you're trying to run and gun or travel light.
