Viltrox EF-NEX IV Reviews

Be Weary With Canon TSE Lenses

This adapter is very tempermental with a Canon 24 TSE II on my A7RV. I have had freezing issues or instances when I am unable to control aperture. It requires a camera shut off / on or a battery removal to fix. It is a small annoyance but one I have run into enough that it warrants a 3 star rating.

It Works

I bought the Viltrox EF-NEX IV mount adapter to match the classic Canon 400mm f/5.6L wildlife lens to my Sony a6600 APS-C camera. The goal was to combine the autofocus of the lens with in-camera stabilization. This combination produces a focal length equivalent to 600mm on full frame at an affordable price tag. The stabilization is essential for hand-held photos (leaning against a stable object, such as a tree or car). After playing with various camera settings, I found one that was successful: AF-A, Silent Shooting, Electronic Front Shutter OFF (together with CDAF on the adapter). The attached example shows the front range of the Rocky Mountains from 25 miles away.

I am using it on a Sony A7iii. Autofocus occasionally stops working and you need to remove it and put it back on. Otherwise works fine. Good value for the money for Canon lenses.

Viltrox EF-NEX IV Lens Mount Adapter for Canon EF-Mount Lens to Select Sony E-mount cameras will work with Canon EF tilt-shift lenses. Those lenses are manual. You will not get autofocus. And there can be more vignettes depending on the specific tilt-shift lens.
