I was able to use the above mentioned device for not only connecting a stabilizer rig to a camera without a shoulder support, but a camera that is vintage and made without a way to connect the camera to a tripod other than the Manfrotto 357PLV-1

Unfortunately it will not. The 357 system is not cross compatible with the 577 system, they use different plates.
