If I plug this controller through the USB MIDI ...
If I plug this controller through the USB MIDI Input of my Apogee Duet for iPad & Mac, and connect the interface to an iPad Air 2 through lightning cable, would I be able to play the virtual instruments inside an iPad DAW (like, for instance Cubasis)? Just as a MIDI Keyboard, I don’t mind the other functions.
We have not tested that configuration, but probably not. A better controller is the IK Multimedia iRig Keys Pro 37, which is designed to work with lightning to iOs devices.

I'm looking at this to use with my Cakewalk-by-Bandlab DAW. I assume it works fine as a MIDI keyboard(?), but can its "control" functions control aspects of Cakewalk beyond just playing notes?
if cakewalk allows you to midi map, you can assign the buttons on Kontrol m32 to tweak settings on cakewalk like effects and also mix as well.

Is there a USB cable that delivers power to the keyboard from USB power brick, but also midi din I/O?
The Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol M32 does not have DIN MIDI I/O. All MIDI communication is done via USB.
