Think Tank Photo 730532 Overview

The Stand Manager 52 from Think Tank is a rolling case with shock-absorbing wheels for assorted light stands and lighting accessories. Its main compartment measures up to 52 x 12 x 7.5" and can hold up to four turtle-base C-stands or multiple tripod-base light stands of varying sizes.

When the Stand Manager 52 rests on its rear panel its main compartment lid faces upward while skid rails elevate the rear panel, protecting it from abrasions and moisture. The main compartment lid can then be opened using an abrasion-resistant zippered closure that extends around this rolling case's top and bottom, as well as down one side. Along the interior of the main compartment lid, a stretchable pocket provides space for lighting umbrellas or background support components. Both the lid and rear panel are reinforced for crush resistance, while this rolling case's overall durability is further complemented by tall wheel housings that protect its corners from impacts to escalators as well as curbs.

With its lid zippered shut, the Stand Manager 52 can be positioned on its wheels and bottom bumper, measuring up to 54" high, 12.5" wide, and 8" deep along its exterior. Handles are attached to the top, bottom, and both sides of this rolling case for flexibility while transporting or moving the Stand Manager 52; making pickup and placement into car trunks or onto an elevated surface easy. Additionally, dual carry straps that can be joined using an integrated handle wrap allow this rolling case to be lifted with its top lid facing upward. Adjustable webbings are also built-in along the sides of the Stand Manager 52. When tightened, these webbings reduce the depth of this rolling case by up to 3.5".

Multiple tie-down straps with convenient side-release buckles prevent the contents of the Stand Manager 52 from shifting during transport, while the internal bottom lining along the wheels is reinforced to withstand the weight of any light stand pressed against it. For security, the main compartment's two adjoining zipper pull tabs feature shackle holes. During travel, a separately available TSA-accepted lock can be used to fasten the two pull tabs together, preventing their sliders from being able to open the zipper chain and helping to keep items within the Stand Manager 52 safe from theft.

Nylon construction throughout this rolling case and a polyurethane-coated underside provide a high degree of weather resistance. To ensure that the Stand Manager 52 can be conveniently repaired should its wheels wear out over time, they are user-replaceable.

Think Tank Photo 730532 Reviews

My kind of thing!

Happy with the bag so far, I'm a 100% loyal think tank person. I shoot mostly around NYC and even drag it through the subway pretty often. I’m a tall and fit guy so the size/weight doesn’t bother me too much but might be an issue for someone. Usually carrying one C-stand, a couple Manfrotto Nano stands, foldable octabox, a few AD100/AD200s, plus somehow I still manage to squeeze a small backpack with cameras/lenses inside. Everything stays secure. Also worth mentioning (especially important for smaller nyc apartments) the bag itself is surprisingly compact when stored for how much stuff it fits when loaded. That’s probably one of my favorite parts about it. A couple things to keep in mind - once loaded it’s still pretty heavy to roll because of the weight distribution and longer “arm” compared to a normal suitcase and it doesn’t really stand upright on its own when packed. But overall love it. Works great for my type of work

strap clips not holding-up, otherwise great

As many other reviews have said - the overall design and construction is excellent. I load it with microphone stands up to the 70 Lb airline limit. I have even gone as high as 84 lbs checking this bag on flights. Everything works well except the plastic strap clips. one of the exterior cinch-strap clips broke on the very first flight I checked this on. Then one of the interior strap clips broke on the return flight. They do not appear to be replaceable - looking for a metal cam strap replacement...

How many Manfrotto 126BSU Heavy Duty Steel Cine Stands could I fit into this bag?
Asked by: James
I don't own the Manfrotto Cine Stands, but I do own a few of the Matthews C-Stand Grip Head Kit (Black, 10.5')and I can easily fit 4-5 of them in the stand bag. If the Manfrotto Cine Stands are as big as my Matthews Medium Duty Maxi Kit Stand (Black, 9.4' ), again it could probably fit 4-5 (maybe 6) of those too. It's a solid bag.

Would two Sachtler Ace Video tripods fit side by side in this case? And if so, would there still be space for a few extra items?
Asked by: IVAN
There are a number of Sachtler Ace tripods. Some are small enough to fit others would be too large for the Think Tank Photo Stand Manager 52 BH #THSM52C. The case has interior dimensions of 52 x 12 x 7.5".
