Viltrox DC-70 Overview

The lightweight DC70 II 7" LCD On-Camera Monitor from Viltrox provides professional monitoring in a sharp 7" display suitable for outdoor use. The DC90 II supports up to 1080p video as well as various HD and SD formats via a single full-size HDMI input, an AV input, and an HDMI loop output.

The DC70 II features a 1024 x 600 IPS LCD display that supports live view from your camera, and it provides image tools such as peaking, color temperature, tone, pixel-to-pixel zoom, brightness, and contrast. You can monitor the audio via its built-in speaker or with its 3.5mm headphone port.

At the rear of the monitor, a built-in L-series battery plate enables you to power the monitor with a separately available L-series battery, or you can power it with a separately available AC adapter. A mini-USB port allows you to upgrade the firmware. The monitor also includes a sun hood to help viewing in sunlight, a shoe mount adapter, and two HDMI cables.

Very good basic monitor for use in the field. Like that it has an HDMI loop out, in case you are also using an external recorder. Good picture quality, plus has an on screen VU meter, as well as a HP jack for monitoring audio signals. Got (2) at a slight discount during the Deal Of The Day. Like that the sunshield is built in. Overall a good buy. As always, super fast delivery by B&H-THANKS!!!!

Dramatic improvement over the camcorder's monitor

I use a Sony HXR-MC88 camcorder in my library job to produce educational videos. The camcorder's monitor is okay but small and difficult to view outdoors. Going to the 7 monitor I expected an improvement. When I connected it, I was amazed at the difference. So far it has done the job. Only two minor negatives: 1. While two types of cords were provided, I did need a different one to connect to the camcorder. B&H quickly provided it. 2. It came with a hot shoe connection. Because I already have an LED light source on the hot shoe, I had to create a bolt to connect the monitor to the camcorder. Otherwise, I am delighted with it.

I see the resolution is 1024 x 600. Will this automatically downsize a 1080p60 input from HDMI?

The Viltrox DC70 II 7 - LCD On-Camera Monitor will only support 1080p up to 30 FPS. The monitor will display a compatible 1080p signal at 1024 x 600, but the HDMI output will maintain the resolution of a compatible input (ex. 1080p30).
