I'll come clean: I've had a dim view (pun intended) of LED lit magnifiers. This Carson Lume series defies my prior poor experience however, providing really great light quality. With multiple, high quality, diffused LEDs around the perimeter of the lens, like a photographer's ring light, the magnifier provides bright and even light under a wide variety of ambient lightning conditions. But that's all icing on the cake to the lens quality. I use this magnifier for precision geometric layout work for artistic and woodworking purposes, the sort of thing where small errors early on accumulate to big errors later. The real beauty of this lens is its fantastic edge-to-edge image quality at a reasonable price. It's a wide enough view that I can get a clear view with binocular vision, and at a comfortable viewing distance. When needed, the built-in 7x magnifier is handy for checking in on pinpoint details without having to reach for a separate loupe.
Best magnifying glass I have used in a while. My wife loves it and wants an extra one. I might get one for myself.
