AViPAS AV-1280 Reviews

Update to previous review; still works fine

In full production for a couple of years. No issues at all. My only minor comment is that pan/tilt is not very smooth, even at the slowest speed, but for the price it's just great. So the camera had been in use for many months. One day before a webcast, the SDI card in our vMix computer simply quit. I was able to switch from the SDI output on the camera to using to RTSP over Ethernet (enabled/configured it in the camera's menus) and got the same quality image as before. Cool.

Similar quality to a more expensive PTZ camera

Similar quality and features as a more expensive PTZ camera that we have been using. Have not done detailed side by side testing but this camera works well for streaming live performances using OBS. We do notice a time delay when using ethernet video not aligning with a separate microphone so recommending using the SDI output if streaming audio and video.

Is the IR remote the only way to control it? Is other software included for control over LAN?
Asked by: David
Along with the IR remote you will also be able to connect this camera to your network and control it with PTZOptics 4D IP Joystick Controller (GEN3), B&H # PTJOYG3. This camera and the remote use Visca over IP protocols.

Can a single cat 6 cable be used for both video and camera control with an AviPas controller?
Asked by: Dean
If using the AViPAS AV-3102 controller, the RJ45 port on that controller if for interfacing with CM6700 matrix. You can control the camera through IP and send video through IP to a computer when using RJ45. Alternative is using the AViPAS AV-3104 controller which offers an RS-232 port to interface via RS-232 on the AViPAS AV-1280 and run IP video through RJ45 to a computer.

AV-1280W supports PoE 802.3af, the voltage is 12V/1.5A. You also can directly connect camera(RJ45 port on the rear board) to a PoE switch via Ethernet cable for power and data.

Are these cameras compatible with our older Vaddio ProductionView PTZ controller?
Asked by: Dean
Only Vaddio cameras are supported by their controller options and would not work with the AViPAS AV-1280 SDI PoE PTZ Camera (White). The recommended IP joystick camera controller is listed below: AViPAS AV-3104IP 4D Joystick PTZ Controller BH #AV3104IP
