Intellytech Pocket Cannon Mini Daylight Overview

  • 1Description
  • 2Single-Source Round COB LED (150W Equivalent)
  • 3Small and Versatile
  • 4AC and DC Power

Ideal for the traveling image-maker looking for a lightweight solution with modifiers and power options, the Pocket Cannon Mini LED Daylight-Balanced Fixture from Intellytech is a 3.9 x 4.4" light source; that is a real asset in locations where larger, traditional lights just can't go. The Mini has an expansive 160º coverage that can be narrowed to 55º for accent or selective lighting.

The light's removable, four-way barndoors allow you to further control the output by swinging one or more barndoor leaves into the path of the light. Intellytech has chosen to use a circular COB LED chip, which not only boasts single-shadow performance, but it also earns a CRI/TLCI rating of 97, indicating accurate rendering of hues and colors. The 15W chip uses negligible power, while it outputs the equivalent of a 150W fixture. A dimmer knob on top of the light allows you to vary the power from 0 to 100%.

Another indication of the Pocket Cannon Mini's versatility is its power options. The light is ready for worldwide use via its 100 to 240 VAC adapter, but an included Sony NP-F550 lithium-ion battery slips into a holder at the back of the light for cord-free operation when mains power is unavailable. The battery will give you a 1.5-hour run time at full power. The light and accessories all fit in a case designed for storage and transport.

Single-Source Round COB LED (150W Equivalent)

The LED creates an attractive, round light that can be cut and controlled with the included barndoors. The dimmer knob placed at the top of the light allows for quick and easy control of the light from 0-100%.

Small and Versatile

Measuring in at just 3.9 x 4.4" and weighing only 1.2 lb, the Pocket Cannon Mini can be used in a variety of ways. A shoe mount adapter and 5/8" receiver are included to allow you to use the Pocket Cannon Mini as an on-camera light during one shoot and as a fill or accent light.

AC and DC Power

The Pocket Cannon Mini can be powered via a battery or AC power adapter (both are included). The low power draw of just 15W works with practically any NP-F (L-series) battery, and the AC adapter simply plugs into the back of the light.

Intellytech Pocket Cannon Mini Daylight Reviews

This is a great light

This is a great light. I use it as an accent fill light. One of the really great things that I did not know when I first bought it was that it is also battery operated which allows it to be easily moved to any location. This light is a great addition to anyone's lighting setup.

Great Light, crummy power supply

This little light replaces my Arri 150, cause it can do the same job, w/o running hot, and it also runs on battery power, which is great in tight locations. Solid build, feels very pro all around. The zipper case provided is actually usable, for is holds the entire kit. The Pocket Cannon didn’t get 5 stars from me for only one thing, the AC/DC power supply provided is sup par. Mine died after a month of very moderate use. It is a very standard unit - 120V to 9V 3000mA. I would ask Intellytech to consider a different supplier for the AC/DC convertor. Otherwise, I highly recommend this light.

Absolutely love it!

Already owned one for almost a year and bought a second. I use it primarily as a hair light/back light. Looks so great! It’s easy to dial in brightness, comes with barn doors, and can be battery powered. My wife and I do 2 livestreams a week, each about 1-1.5 hours long, and the battery lasts just fine. So happy with this little guy!

Great light for product stuff when you need light in just one very specific area. I have the snoot that came with 2 honeycomb options so it's versatile too. Being dimmable really lets me control the light as well.

So far so great!

Granted, I haven’t had it for long... but so far this light is awesome! The detachable barn doors, the fact it’s dimmable, and the fact that it’s 5,600k temperature makes it the perfect studio photography and videography light. I’m VERY happy with this purchase. Also, the option for battery is super helpful.

Great light for the price!

Pair well with my Aputure lights

All of my other lights are Aputure so I was iffy at first about these. I figured I would go for it after watching a few videos and reading reviews and I'm glad I got them. They work very well and they're easy to control. I've done a few videos with these and I was asked what lighting did I use as these really stood out. They are inexpensive but they really hold their own with other lights that are more expensive.

How strong is this light if I need to light a subject in daylight outdoors, filling in shade if using the sun as a hair light?

This light is capable of 1100 lux at 1 meter. Balancing to the sun is a very complex thing as it can vary based on time of day and other conditions.
