Genelec 8010A Bi-Amplified Active Monitor (Single, Producer Finish)

Styled in what the manufacturer has dubbed Producer Finish, the Genelec 8010A Bi-Amplified Active Monitor (Single) is designed for mixing and mastering in recording studios, broadcast facilities, and mobile work. The compact monitor utilizes independent 25W Class-D amplifiers to power a 3" woofer and a 3/4" metal dome tweeter housed in a die-cast aluminum enclosure. The monitor utilizes Genelec's Directivity Control Waveguide and Minimum Diffraction Enclosure designs to tame box reflections, flatten the frequency response from 74 Hz to 20 kHz, and provide a maximum SPL of 96 dB.

The amplifiers utilize Genelec's Intelligent Signal Sensing circuitry to conserve electricity, utilizing less than 0.5W in standby mode, 5W when idle, and 30W peak per amplifier at full output. The amplifier automatically detects the presence of an input signal and adjusts the power consumption of the monitor accordingly. A bass tilt control allows you to adjust the bass response to fit the acoustics of your listening environment. The included ISO stand helps reduce the transmission of structural vibrations into your work surface.

Genelec 7040A Studio Subwoofer

Provided here in a dark gray producer finish, the Genelec 7040A Studio Subwoofer is a studio subwoofer designed to provide accurate low-frequency reproduction in limited production spaces. Its small footprint suits project studios, mobile vans, and portable recording systems.

This sub is the ideal complement to Genelec 8010A and 8020A monitors. It extends the low-frequency response down to 30 Hz, and uses Genelec's patented Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) technology to provide both precise bass articulation and extended low-frequency capacity. When used in a stereo system, the sub can produce 100 dB of undistorted SPL by means of its 6.5" woofer, and its powerful Class-D amplifier.

Built-In Bass Management
Balanced XLR connectors are used for the audio inputs and outputs. There are two input connectors and two outputs. The bass-management unit in the 7040A subwoofer splits the input into low- and high-frequency components at 85 Hz. Frequencies below 85 Hz are reproduced by the subwoofer. Frequencies above 85 Hz are directed via the subwoofer's output connectors to the main monitors. The subwoofer's outputs have the same level as the inputs.
Adjustable Sensitivity
The subwoofer sensitivity can be adjusted from +12 to -6 dBu to match the subwoofer sound level easily with different monitors.
Variable Bass Roll-Off & Phase
Two BASS ROLL-OFF switches provide bass-response adjustment to compensate for the acoustical environment in three 2 dB steps. Two switches allow alignment of subwoofer phase with the monitors. The phase can be adjusted in 90-degree increments between 0 and -270°.
Senal PMC-II Passive Monitor Controller

Auray ISO-SUB Subwoofer Isolation Stabilizer

The ISO-SUB Subwoofer Isolation Stabilizer from Auray is for improving the sound and resolution of a subwoofer. It is used to reduce vibrations and unwanted resonance that can make a subwoofer sound muddy, and is ideal for home theater, studio, and stereo-system applications.

A sturdy, fabric-covered wooden base with EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) padding isolates and stabilizes the speaker, and a high-density acoustic foam decouples the speaker from the floor so low frequencies sound clearer and more focused. The ISO-SUB's design preserves the accuracy and clarity of your subwoofer and decreases the transmission of vibrations to adjacent rooms and other spaces.

Improves the Sound of Your Subwoofer
Without the proper isolation, a subwoofer can sound muddy. The ISO-SUB provides a subwoofer with a high-density acoustic-foam platform that minimizes vibrations and resonance to clarify and sharpen the SUB's sound
Minimizes Resonant Coupling
If the subwoofer makes other surfaces vibrate, it diminishes its clarity and accuracy. The ISO-SUB minimizes resonant coupling from the floor or stage so that all you hear is the pure, low-end bass sound coming from the subwoofer
Prevents Speaker Recoil
The EVA padding on the surface of the ISO-SUB prevents speaker recoil by eliminating the speaker's back-to-front motion. This stability enhances speaker accuracy by eliminating the transmission of vibrations to other surfaces

Genelec 8010 Deluxe Package - a great value!

The Genelec 8010 pair of studio monitors fits perfectly on my desk. The Senal attenuator alone cost $100 and it is worthwhile addition. It has a useful mute button that I use all the time. The speaker stands are way oversized but I view it as a throw in for future use since the pair of Genelec 8010 studio monitors and the Senal attenuator alone exceeds the cost of the bundle.

Awesome Studio Monitor for Your Desk

Genelec 8010s has the best sound in such a compact package. I find the Senal PMC-II controller to be very useful to be an intermediary connection between my Rodecaster Pro and my pair of Genelec 8010s. The mute button and the attenuation know are very useful. Regarding the speaker stands, they are much too large for the Genelec 8010 but I consider this a give away being thrown in the package that I can use in the future.

For the money these are incredible. I couldn't believe how much better that they sound than the old crappy speakers that I was previously using.

I've been stuck in the KRK loop for about a decade now. This is my first pair of Genelecs and I am blown away! Sure, they don't have the low-end presence of larger speakers, but the clarity and separation is on a whole other level! I am hearing my favorite music in a new way through these monitors and I cannot wait to use them for critical listening in my own work as well. Every instrument feels like it has it's own space and I am noticing little delights that I have never noticed in my favorite music. What a dream!

I'm filmmaker and multimedia artist, I have a year using these monitors, every day. These Genelec 8010 are a wonder of modern engineering and design, they have everything you'll need: Clean-detailed-sharp sound, enough power, durability and portability. These are workhorses, but premium graded. I use them for checking mixes (documentaries and music -rock to electronic-) dialogue in general, and complex tracks for multimedia shows (12-30 tracks). I can hear every detail, even if the other collaborators use too much of certain filters XD they hate me, but then they love me, because they can't hide their tricks, and that forces them to to their best. And when I share with them my objective opinions they just tell me, okay, yes, I did a lot of compression there or well, yes I forgot to clean that little two-words dialogue, or yes, this is too low... ha! I always tell them about the pleasure and blessing of having my babies, my beloved Genelec 8010s. My best ever 800 dollars invested (and I'm a Leica-M film user). It's important to keep them at around 30-40 inches of your ears, and placed over a couple of stands. I don't miss the extra bass of bigger bassy monitors (that's extra distortion!), if you know what the heck are you listening/doing you get enough information from these monitors (some audiophile guys seem to always forget to check mixes in real world outputs, right?) and you can have very high quality information of the low frequencies (if you want to feel the bass just buy a regular home theater, ha). I love the portability, these come and go all around the city. Also if you're into movie dissection, you can really undress all the sound design in there, ha, those guys can't fool you anymore! and it's great to have that power (and it's glorious to brag to your friends that you really hear what is going on in that artsy or blockbuster movie). Just to summarize, these are one of the best near filed monitoring tools, and for $800 bucks? that's a steal! I also have a couple of Adam 7V-Ts, and JBL 305 MKIIs, and I've heard mixes on many many fancy monitors, like big DynAudios or Adam 7Xs. And I have to say I'd pick my little Genelecs, any day, over those (and save thousands of dollars). Last but not least, if you want to rock, to party listening to good ol' Post Punk, also use these! they know how to rock! just do it in a normal room, like in an apartment, because if you're in a extremely big room, like a warehouse, these babes aren't powerful enough, and they distort if you crank up the volume (despite of all their greatness, they are fine little near field babies, remember). Cheers! buy these, EM

Not bad for the size

I do live video production.... Not audio. Was looking for small speaker system that doesn't take up too much space but yet will give me pretty decent sound. These speakers do really well if you just want decent enough monitoring and small footprint. . I also own a pair of Genlec 8030s..... and well they just blow the 8010s out of water...amazing the difference ... so you get what pay for.
