EastWest Quantum Leap Pianos Bosendorfer 290 Platinum is a virtual piano that samples a 98-key, 9.5' Grand Imperial Concert Grand. The piano itself has a warm, dynamic, resonant, and romantic tone. The extended low range gives you a body you can't get from a traditional 88-key piano. Even the patches that only utilize 88 keys benefit from the resonance the extra ten keys provide.
This 88GB library has been painstakingly captured with multiple mic positions, and with sampling techniques that secure an authentic sound. For instance, piano-repetition samples have been recorded in real-time from 180 BPM performances; so when you go for a repetition, you'll hear a recording of the real thing—not a retriggered, alternate sample. Sympathetic pedal resonances have also been recorded for every note at many different velocities.
The software utilizes a dedicated Opus playback engine, which provides a searchable browser and the ability for users to customize their sounds. It is compatible with Mac and Windows. It runs as standalone software or operates in AU, VST, or AAX formats.
