K 5600 Lighting S0400JB Overview

This K5600 Joker-Bug 400W HMI - 1 Light System includes a 400W fixture, lamp, lenses, head cable extension, power supply, Beamer reflector, Beaker diffuser.

The Joker-Bug 400 output is comparable to a 1500/2000W quartz fixture, but with a power draw of only 5.5 Amps. It's powerful enough to make a difference in daylight interiors even through diffusion materials and light banks.

This unit has been adopted as the choice for motion picture gaffers and cameramen for use with fine daylight interiors, car shots, and two camera interviews where they are most present.

This fixture throws a beam of light of 3860 footcandles 1 foot in diameter from 20 feet, with a spot lens. This fixture throws a beam of 47 footcandles 22 feet in diameter from 30 feet, with Super Wide flood lens.

The included power supply is electronic, square wave flicker free. AC input: 110 - 240V AC, 50 or 60Hz. On/Off push button switch. Completely silent (convection cooled).
The included Beamer optical accessory turns the Bug-Lite into a Joker-Bug, a directional Par unit offering various beam patterns through quick lens changes. The Joker-Bug 400 offers the most flexible optical configuration for location lighting by achieving Spot to Flood ratios 55 to 1 with beam angles from as narrow as 5° to as wide as 45°.
Use the frosted beaker to alter the light quality emitted from the fixture.

I am a lighting director living in South Korea. I uses electricity to 220v plug in south korea. Can you provide me a power supply consisting of a 220v plug?

Both ballasts included in the above kit are dual voltage, operating from 90-265V current. As such, all you would need would be two (2) plug adapters for your needs, such as the Watson Adapter Plug - 3-Prong USA to 2-Prong Europe, B&H # WAAPGUSAE. The above adapter will allow you to use the above kit in South Korea.

We offer a one light kit like the K 5600 Lighting Joker-Bug 400W HMI - 1 Light Kit B&H # K5JB400CK, however it doesnt include a softbox. A similar softbox would be the Chimera XS Video Pro Plus 1 Softbox, B&H # CHVPP1BXS, which requires the K 5600 Lighting Speed Ring Adapter for All Joker-Bug Lamp Heads B&H # K5SRBL400. Please see the image below for reference.

Can I use a Medium Chimera Video Pro Plus 1 softbox with the Joker800? What speedring would I need?

You would need at least this speed ring that I've added to this answer. The Pro of this adapter is that you can spin the chimera bag without spinning the light, which is often very useful. The Con is that this speed ring can't mount an Octaplus chimera, and if you're looking to purchase a chimera and want a beauty light, or you just want the more versatile piece of equipment for your package at the same exact price, you may as well buy the k5600 joker octaplus speed ring which has 8 pole slots as opposed to this one which only has 4. That speed ring I speak of isn't on this website though, couldn't tell you why.

Is this light 50% or 100% dimable?

Currently this unit is not dimmable. We do have a new dimmable ballast that will begin shipping in April. Please check with us in April for an update as to availability. It will become the standard ballast for this kit once it is completed and in stock.
