miliboo M8 Tripod System Overview

This Broadcast Tripod Kit with M8 Fluid Head from miliboo features aluminum tripod legs and the M8 fluid head with a 100mm base and supports rigs up to 33 lb. The three-section, reinforced legs are secured by flip locks and a ground spreader.

The tripod has a 24.8" minimum height and it extends to a maximum height of 70.9". The fluid head features a 360° pan rotation and a -60 to 90° tilt range, and it includes a pan bar and bubble level to make balance and movement smooth and easy. The full tripod and fluid head kit weighs 17.3 lb.

Both this fluid head and tripod clearly tried to do something different. Whether that's a good of bad thing, I leave that up to you. For the tripod the first thing I noticed was that there's only one set of release tabs for both stages. I thought this was a mistake until I realized that loosening them and tightening them effects both stages. It's a novel design, but I kind of like it: one less thing to do and undo when raising and lowering it. For the fluid head again something I noticed missing was the fluid/drag adjustments. But when trying the head out I noticed that the speed at which you whip seems to effect the resistance on the pan and tilt of the head. Over all it's definitely a different design than I'm accustomed to. It takes some getting used to, sure, but considering the huge weight capacity for the price, I think it's an amazing deal!

This is the craziest thing I've seen in a while. At first glance this looks (and feels) like a professional quality tripod and fluid head. The weight compensation works perfectly, and the pan and tilt locks both function. The tripod feels solid enough. . . . . . And then you start looking for the pan and tilt drag controls. . . . . . . They aren't there! I've never seen a fluid head without the ability to adjust the amount of drag on the pan or tilt. It's crazy! At first I thought I was just missing them, but after a few minutes of very close examination, I can tell you that there is not way to adjust either the pan or the tilt drag on this fluid head. It's kind of sad, because it's a pretty good piece of gear otherwise.
