Lenovo T490 14" Overview

Built for serious business professionals, the 14" ThinkPad T490 Laptop from Lenovo is powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5-8265U Quad-Core processor which allows you to run multiple applications simultaneously. If you need more power, the system can be overclocked to 3.9 GHz using Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 technology. The 8GB of 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs. The current memory configuration is one 8GB module that is soldered to the system board. For memory upgrades, there is an empty SO-DIMM slot.

The 14" IPS display features an HD 1366 x 768 resolution, an anti-glare finish, a 16:9 aspect ratio, a contrast ratio of 400:1, a brightness of 220 cd/m2, and viewing angles of 90°. The Intel UHD Graphics 620 chipset delivers a sharp, clear picture. You'll also be able to output video to a max of three external display using the system's HDMI 1.4b and USB Type-C ports, the latter of which supports DisplayPort.

For storage of your files, this ThinkPad T490 is equipped with a 256GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. If you want to add external storage, optical drives, memory card readers, and more, there is one Thunderbolt 3 port, and also supports Power Delivery and DisplayPort, plus one USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port that also supports Power Delivery and DisplayPort. Additional connectivity can be accomplished with two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, one of which doubles as a charging port. Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) are also built-in for wired and wireless networking, and Bluetooth 5.0 technology will also allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals. Other integrated features include a microSD card reader, a 720p webcam, dual-array digital mics, and a fingerprint reader.

The 14" ThinkPad T490 Laptop includes a 65W USB Type-C power adapter and an integrated 3-cell / 50Wh lithium-ion battery that lasts for up to 16.1 hours before recharging is required. The installed operating system is Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) and protection is provided by a limited 3-year depot warranty and a 1-year battery depot warranty.

The ThinkPad T490 delivers up to 16.1 hours of battery life with the low-power Full HD display. If you're running on empty, Rapid Charge provides an 80% charge in just an hour. So, a 60-minute lunch break or a layover is enough to boost your battery up to 12 hours.

Stay Connected
Whether you're out in the world or working at your desk, the ThinkPad T490 keeps you connected. Use the ThinkPad Pro Dock (sold separately), a USB Type-C side mechanical docking station that easily connects with two male USB Type-C connectors that slide into and automatically level your device. Once docked, your ThinkPad stays securely in place and connects to all of your peripherals, such as monitors, keyboards, and mice.

The ThinkPad T490 offers a Full HD panel with PrivacyGuard, a technology that keeps unwanted viewers from seeing what's on your screen. ThinkShutter, a physical cover that ensures your camera is on only when you want it to be, is available on all camera options.
Windows 10 Pro
Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Cortana
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana, can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the Internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Laptop, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information-gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.

Windows Continuum

Xbox on Windows 10

The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.
Windows 10 Pro
The Pro version of Windows 10 includes all of the features of Windows 10 Home plus many designed specifically for businesses users, including Hyper-V virtualization, BitLocker disk encryption, and remote desktop access. Devices will also be able to join domains and the Azure Active Directory, and they can even access a specialized version of the Windows Store featuring custom, company-specific applications.
