HPE Networking IAP-207 Overview

Ideal for medium-density enterprise environments, the IAP-207 Instant Access Point from Aruba supports 802.3af power and is equipped with two internal antennas. The access point features an Ethernet port that supports PoE+ (Power over Ethernet), ideal for transmitting both data and power over a single cable.

Support for Aruba Instant mode lets the access point automatically deploy its network configuration settings to other Instant-capable access points in the WLAN. Multi-user MIMO technology allows the ceiling-mountable access point to handle multiple simultaneous data streams. An integrated Bluetooth Low Energy radio allows for location-based and indoor wayfaring applications.

Note: This access point has been designed to operate in the US wireless regulatory domain. The access point does not include a power source, such as a DC power adapter or a PoE adapter.

Dual Radio 802.11ac Access Point
Supports up to 867 Mb/s in the 5 GHz band (with 2SS/VHT80 clients) and up to 400 Mb/s in the 2.4 GHz band (with 2SS/VHT80 clients).
Built-In Bluetooth Low Energy Radio
Enables location-based services with BLE-enabled mobile devices receiving signals from multiple Aruba beacons at the same time and enables management of a network of Aruba beacons.
Advanced Cellular Coexistence
Minimizes interference from 3G/4G cellular networks, distributed antenna systems, and commercial small cell/femtocell equipment.
Quality of Service for Unified Communication Apps
Supports priority handling and policy enforcement for unified communication apps (including Microsoft Skype for Business) with encrypted videoconferencing, voice, chat, and desktop sharing.
RF Management
Adaptive Radio Management (ARM) technology automatically assigns channel and power settings, provides airtime fairness, and ensures that APs stay clear of all sources of RF interference to deliver reliable, high-performance WLANs. The Aruba 207 Series APs can be configured to provide part-time or dedicated air monitoring for wireless intrusion protection, VPN tunnels to extend remote locations to corporate resources, and wireless mesh connections where Ethernet drops are not available.
Intelligent App Visibility and Control
AppRF technology leverages deep packet inspection to classify and then block, prioritize, or limit bandwidth for thousands of applications in a range of categories.
Unified Wired and Wireless Policy
For improved network simplicity and security, Dynamic Segmentation enforces real-time device-level access policies on Aruba wired and wireless networks.
Integrated Wireless Intrusion Protection
Offers threat protection and mitigation, and helps to eliminate the need for separate RF sensors and security appliances.
IP Reputation and Security Services
Help to identify, classify, and block malicious files, URLs, and IPs, ideal for providing protection against advanced online threats.
Integrated Trusted Platform Module (TPM)
Offers secure storage of credentials and keys.
Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS)
Optimizes the use of available RF spectrum.
Management
When managed by Aruba Mobility Controller, Aruba 207 Series access points offer centralized configuration, data encryption, policy enforcement and network services, as well as distributed and centralized traffic forwarding. When managed by Aruba Instant Mode, a single AP automatically distributes the network configuration to other Instant APs in the WLAN. Simply power up one Instant AP, configure it over the air, and plug in the other APs. If WLAN requirements change, a built-in migration path allows 207 Series Instant APs to become part of a WLAN that is managed by Mobility Controller.
Additional Operating Modes
Remote AP (RAP) for branch deployments
Air monitor (AM) for wireless IDS, rogue detection and containment
Secure enterprise mesh
Aruba Activate
For large installations across multiple sites, the Aruba Activate service significantly reduces deployment time by automating device provisioning, firmware upgrades, and inventory management.
Advanced Cellular Coexistence (ACC)
Helps to minimize interference from cellular networks.
Maximum Radio Combining (MRC)
Helps to improve receiver performance.
Cyclic Delay/Shift Diversity (CDD/CSD)
Helps to improve downlink RF performance.
Space-Time Block Coding (STBC)
Helps to boost range and improve reception.
Low-Density Parity Check (LDPC)
Allows for high-efficiency error correction and increased throughput.
Transmit Beamforming (TxBF)
Helps to increase signal reliability and range.
Power Sources
The AP supports direct DC power and Power over Ethernet. Power sources are sold separately.
Mounting
The AP includes two black mounting clips that attach to a 9/16" or 15/16" flat T-bar drop-tile ceiling.
