DECIMATOR 12G-CROSS Overview

Combining capabilities usually reserved for a computer-controlled converter, the DECIMATOR 12G-CROSS 4K HDMI/SDI Cross Converter with Scaling and Frame Rate Conversion is an independent device that features both HDMI and a 12G/3G/HD/SD-SDI input, and can cross-convert either signal to the other. It features a built-in scaler and frame rate converter, allowing you to convert the input signal to your required output standard in 3249 possible conversion combinations, and it supports 294 VESA formats via the HDMI input.

The 12G-CROSS features one HDMI 2.0 output and two pairs of 12G/3G/HD/SD-SDI outputs, controllable via 57 selectable conversion modes to fit your needs. This converter does not require a computer or DIP switches to control as it incorporates a small LCD screen for menu functions, and four buttons for control. It comes with a USB cable, a power supply, and features a threaded locking power socket to prevent accidental power loss during use.

The HDMI or SDI input can be scaled and/or frame-rate converted to the required standard.
Supports 294 VESA formats via the HDMI input
Four SD/HD/3G/12G-SDI outputs allow the converter to be used as a 1 to 4 distribution amplifier. SDI output pair 1 can either be a copy of the SDI input (default) or the same as pair 2.
The 12G-CROSS incorporates an LCD and button-controlled system. This gives you access to features that usually require a computer. Adjusting DIP switches or having access to a computer to change a simple setting are not needed.
The audio pairs in the SDI and HDMI outputs can be rearranged as required.
The unit incorporates a USB port for control and firmware updates.

This device is immense! Super awesome swiss army knife of the video world, just saved my job today because we needed a playback computer to downconvert to older 1080i 59.94 Hz format and it was easy to do with the decimator laptop app! Bigger beast but worth the money.

The de facto standard for throw-down scalers.

Who doesn't love Decimators cross converters?!? It's a poor man's ImagePro. But, an incredibly flexible one! Anyway, just days after buying this I needed a 4K down convert...My other Decimators wouldn't work. But, this one saved the day! Another time I have to convert one camera feeding a switcher. Since the camera was getting scaled through the Decimator 4K it lost the genlock going to the camera. So, I moved the genlock from the camera to the Decimator 4K and everything was fixed! I love these things!

It's a DIT's swiss army knife. If you are DIT, you should have one. You can convert any of SDI or HDMI signal up to 4096p60(include DCI 2k). And It can use as a SDI 1:4 VDA(Distribution Amplifier). sooo useful. But unfortunately, you cannot generate Color Bar or 1k signal internally. as MD-Cross v2 can do this. So you can't use it for testing cables or monitors. Also, there is no Gratical function. The size is bit bigger and heavier than MD-Cross v2. but regarding functionality, it's not so big issue.

Great box for conversions. Does a lot of video formats. Wish the interface was more clear but you get the hang of it.

The Decimator 12G-CROSS 4K HDMI/SDI Cross Converter with Scaling and Frame Rate Conversion, is able to convert any SMPTE formats from HDMI to HDMI or SDI output, and can convert an input of 1080p60 through HDMI to an output of 2160p29.97 HDMI.

The 12G-Cross can receive all SMPTE formats up to and including DCI 4K p60 as well as a range of VESA formats on its HDMI input. Unfortunately the EDID can not be edited at this time. Hi There, This is Jules from product support at Symbiosis, Decimator's master distributor for your region. The 12G-Cross can reference sync provided using a Bi-Level (Black Burst) or Tri-Level analogue sync signal on its Genlock input. It can also reference the source or the other video input or its own internal sync generator. I hope this helps. Jules

The Aida GCON-HDMI is unique in its function and the DECIMATOR 12G-CROSS 4K does not perform the same function of creating Genlock.

Can the Decimator 12G Cross take a 4k DCI feed ...

Can the Decimator 12G Cross take a 4k DCI feed and downscale it to 1080p? I just picked up a Blackmagic Miniconverter because I was told it could, but when it downscales 4k DCI, it can only do it to 2k DCI (which then has the sides cropped off when displayed on my 1080p reference monitor). Can the 12G Cross get the full 4k DCI frame down to a 1920px wide frame? Or does it still have the same limitation?
