Etymotic Research ER2XR Reviews

Superb headphones, great isolation

Love these! Highly recommend. Superb quality for the price. Sound quality is nearly on par with my over-ear studio monitors (Sony MDR-7506). I switched to these after my Sony WH-1000XM4 noise cancelling headphones started bruising on the top of my head and dropped connection more and more frequently. These don't have any of those issues. Some answers to questions I had when deciding on these: - Bass is just a little bit boosted; maybe sweetened or is the word. Don't expect the thumping/booming bass you'd get from specialized bass-forward headphones, even with EQ. - Very crisp on the high end; in fact, almost too bright, but easy to tame with a little EQ, such as iOS Treble Reducer. - Cable noise does transmit and is a bit annoying; just use the included shirt clip to stop the cables from swinging around and brushing against you as you move. - They do go fairly deep into your ears; your ear canals may adapt a bit during the first few days of wear, so don't be surprised if you need to switch to a different sized silicone tip over time. - Passive isolation is amazing. Makes the subway more than bearable, but be careful--it becomes hard to hear announcements or people approaching behind you. Definitely don't wear these where personal safety is an issue. Still, passive isolation doesn't block out the lowest rumble of the train; when I ride the subway with these, I prefer the iOS Dance EQ setting.

Ive tries many headphones and iems around the 100 dollar range and these take the crown. The details are crisp, while the bass is tight and satisfying. Definetely worth the buy.
