A sleek and versatile prime, the Sony E-mount AF 45mm f/1.8 FE from Samyang is a normal-length prime characterized by its compact design and bright f/1.8 maximum aperture. The optical design incorporates a pair of aspherical elements and one extra-low dispersion element, which help to suppress spherical and chromatic aberrations for improved sharpness, color accuracy, and clarity. An Ultra Multi-Coating has also been applied to reduce flare and ghosting in order to achieve higher contrast when working in strong lighting conditions. Additionally, the lens's linear STM autofocus motor works in conjunction with Sony cameras' AF systems for quick, quiet, and precise focusing performance, and manual focus override is also available for more refined control.
- E-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format

Samyang AF 45mm f/1.8 Reviews
Samyang vs Sony 45mm f2.5 fe g
The major competitor for this lens is the Sony 40mm FE G. The Sony is better built (metal, not plastic), perhaps better optically and weather proof. On the other hand, the Samyang is way cheaper, built well, good optically, has a smaller f number (1.8 vs 2.5) and is slightly smaller and lighter. The 40mm is closer to 35mm and the 45mm is closer to a nifty fifty. The Samyang may be better for portraits and the Sony may be better for street shots. Both are great lenses. It depends on what you want.
Great Lens For The Size, Weight & Price
This is one of the lightest lenses on the Sony Full frame system. It feels a bit plastic and may not be a G Master but it's a really versatile focal length, has a large maximum aperture and is a great option for travel, street, portraiture or if you have a smaller body like the Sony A7C. Sharing some of the shots I took in. Penang, Malaysia.
