Hoya A-67Y52 overview

  • 1Description

This 67mm Yellow (Y52) HMC Filter from Hoya is designed to increase contrast on black-and white film. In landscape photography the filter would have a greater tonal separation, which would make skies look more dramatic. Some films are more sensitive than others in the blue spectrum. This yellow filter helps overcome and cut through the blue haze, resulting in a sharper image.

The glass filter has a filter factor of two, so you should increase your exposure by one stop to compensate. The multi-coating reduces reflection at the filter surface which minimizes flare and ghosting. The ring is made from aluminum and features a threaded front for adding filters.

Ideal for landscape photography

    Hoya A-67Y52 reviews

67mm Yellow Y52 HMC Filter is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes, you still need one to shoot digital Purchased to go with Zeiss 25mm/Sony Alpha A7 ii for street/landscape shooting in black and white. Never took it off when shooting B/W. Increases clarity and contrast, pops clouds to a reasonable degree, gives green vegetation a natural tone. Makes some complexions ghostly. Lets you you capture detail you can't add later with a yellow filter effect in Photoshop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Glass Everything was already said about the importance of filters in B&W photography. This filter respects the tradition of good optical quality and takes advantage of the now widespread coating techniques. My only restriction is about the grip, that could be better designed.
