You'll note the 3/8" female thread and oversized set screw, which allow for 360° rotation and secure locking. The 3/8" mic end offers an aluminum retainer ring.
The MS QT 1 B comes with a pack of black rings as well as 1/4" adapter. It works with stereo bars, standard mic clips, and shockmounts.

The picture appears to show this mounted on a mic stand which is 5/8"-27. Is the 3/8" adapter shown on the bottom view removable?
The 3/8'' is not removable. To position this on a 5/8'' threaded stand, you would need this 5/8'' female to 3/8'' male thread adapter B&H # ONMA100.

What is the maximum recommended weight capacity for this ball head?
While there is no listed weight limit, the Gravity Stands MS QT 1 B Quick Tilt Ball Joint Mic Adapter is designed for use with microphones. We cannot guarantee it will properly function with a heavier load than a typical microphone (1-5lbs).
