What is the peg on the reel? I bought one that has a diamond on it that the peg sits in but the orginal reel that was in the camera has a circle for the peg. (I have a bolex h16 movie camera 16mm)
Bolex H16 cameras have spindles with square posts. Kodak daylight spools have a square hole for Kodak Eastman Double-X Black-and-White Negative Film 7222 (16mm, 100' Roll, Single Perf). We are not familiar with any spool that has a circle.

I thought that the 16mm reels were able to be loaded in daylight, but on the package it says "load in total darkness." Is that in reference to when it's being processed? Or is it daylight-safe for loading?
Kodak Eastman Double-X Black-and-White Negative Film 7222 (16mm, 100' Roll, Single Perf) includes the black metal daylight reel, but the film needs to be loaded in a shaded area, not direct daylight. Many people were trying to load the film i direct sunlight, so Kodak added that warning. It is a good idea to be safe and use a changing bag.

Is the 100' single perf 16mm double x daylight load? (own a K3)
It is a daylight load, i.e. it is on a black metal spool meant to be loaded only in subdued light. Any competent cameraperson knows what this means. However, Kodak received so many complaints about fogged film from incompetent users, the box now states total darkness is required for loading.
