The 48" GVM Professional Video Aluminum Alloy Motorized Camera Slider features an 11-pound horizontal load capacity as well as a 46" slider range, but that is just the tip of its capabilities. It has an attached controller that enables you to select and control the start/stop positions of the slider along the track, as well as selecting between video and still photo mode. The aluminum rail bed features an adjustable channel that allows you to shoot straight (perpendicular to the track rails) in a parabola to keep a subject centered as the camera tracks from side to side, or it can create a 120° panoramic camera move.

Can this slider just be used manually if you ...
Can this slider just be used manually if you wish? That is, no motor powering it and you can slide and vary speed manually if you wish?
I assume so, but just to confirm.
Along that line, can you "manually" use the remote to slow and speed during a pan?
If you don't turn on the remote the slider behaves as a manual one, though with some resistance of the motor/belt. You can leave the motor unplugged from the remote.
The "powered manual" way is to do constant speed (programmable) travel from A to B points (programmable). There is no way to add points or modify duration of the ramps (ease in/out).

Does it make noise while in use?
Does it make noise while in use?
In most instances, the noise level will be negligible. The only concern may arise when using the slider at full motor capacity and shooting a quiet dialogue scene, in which case, the level of noise from the motor may result in an undesirable soft buzz.

Has anyone used this slider with a RED? The specs say it has a 30lb. capacity. Really? Can the motor handle that much weight or is that slider's bending point?
This slider does have a 30 pound load capacity. If you are not using it on the ground you will want to have at least 2, if not 3, pieces of support under it though.
