This tripod is compact, lightweight, versatile and strong. If you're looking for a great travel tripod, this one is it.

Amazing Tripod

I took a long time to research and decide on the type of tripod I needed. I do primarily travel, landscape and macro photography, but also some studio work, so it was very difficult to find one tripod that would fit the bill. I have owned it for several weeks and can't say enough good things about the Befree GT XPRO. It's very light and portable (I have already taken it on several hikes) but also sturdy enough for long exposures (I did weigh it down with a water bottle attached to the hook). It was a snap to get it close to the ground for some forest floor macro shots! Highly recommend it!

Great travel tripod, wish it folded a bit smaller

Overall, I love this tripod. It has all the functionality I want out of a travel tripod, and it is lightweight. I feel that this tripod could be my sole tripod for a multiple month expedition into the rainforest--which is exactly what I want. The lateral column is a great touch, as is the spot to attach various accessories. The tripod feels very sturdy. Similarly, the ball head is easily adjusted and quite stable, even with a long lens that is fairly heavy that is pointed a bit downward. My sole complaint is the size at which it folds down. The legs fold around the ball head, but then they are so wide it is very difficult to fit in a bag or in a tripod strap/mesh. I have resorted to folding the legs on themselves and leaving the ball head sticking out by my head in my pack. Not ideal, but not a dealbreaker.

ball head tricky

The tripod is great, lightweight and perfect for carrying when birding. Unfortunately connecting the camera to the ball head while holding on to a heavy lens is next to impossible . My lens and tripod tipped over, crashed and now my 60-600 sigma lens needs repair/replaced.

I had to replace my aluminum tripod that got stolen, so I went with this carbon fiber one. I love how light and easy to carry it is. It came with a nice bag. It is very sturdy as well. Good buy.

This Fully Professional Tripod is No Travel Tripod!

There were three main things that influenced me to buy this tripod. 1. Light weight. 2. Small size. 3. Horizontal center column. I hate tripods. They are heavy, clunky, a pain to use, and never really let me put the camera where I want it. I am in my 80th year and, while I felt I needed a decent tripod (I have two clinkers that cost little and do less) I can barely carry the gear I want, much less add a bulky, heavy, inconvenient tripod. This Manfrotto is $pendy for sure, but much more likely to get out and actually be used. It is stronger than I expected, taller than I expected, much more convenient to operate than I expected, so don't be fooled as I almost was by calling it a travel tripod. It is twice the professional tripod of any I have ever owned, and I was a working pro for many years so I know tripods.

What's a good way to add weight to this tripod? ...

What's a good way to add weight to this tripod? There is a button and no hook on center column. There is a flimsy carry strap attachment point on the tripod base that doesn't install confidence. I am thinking of using stainless steel eyebolt in the 3/8" easy link socket and hanging my backpack on that unless someone has better suggestions.

I’ve had mine for about a year. I haven’t found a good way to do this yet.

Does this have a gripping area or surface on one of the legs for the aluminum model or the carbon fiber?

While this carbon fiber model does not offer a gripping surface on one of the legs, the Manfrotto Befree Advanced Travel Aluminum Tripod with 494 Ball Head (Twist Locks, Black), B&H # MAMKBFRTA4BK would offer this feature. https://bhpho.to/2QX4zM3

Is it worth to buy carbon fiber than aluminum?

Is it worth to buy carbon fiber than aluminum?
Asked by: Joanna
There are two reasons to buy a quality carbon fibre tripod, monopod, etc.: typically better vibration/noise isolation, and less weight for the same load capacity. I chose the carbon fibre as my older metal Gitzo units (today, Gitzo and Manfrotto are both Vitec, with very little difference between the professional Manfrotto models that use the G-lock system -- the twist locks on all extensible joints -- and the Gitzo models except for "paint job") were too heavy compared to modern quality carbon fibre (beware brands designed for "budget" or "consumer" use -- these "wobble" or fail).
