Super light !

This is my first nice monopod, and its super light and portable, the funny part is the base and the head I have for it both way more then the monopod itself. Packs up nicely, I would say I wish the case had a little more space in it for holding the monopod with a head on it.

Very sturdy monopod! I have been using for a few weeks now with a wimberley monogimbal supporting a DSLR with a 500 f4 lens. Everything works like it should.

Weighs almost nothing.

I recently went bear hunting (with a camera) in eastern NC. Bought this monopod to use instead of my old Bogen aluminum tripod. Used it to support my Sigma 150-600mm sport super telephoto lens. The difference in weight was significant (I'm 81 years old) and it performed well in the field.

This is the one!

I tried a few and had issues with the release mechanisms; some more expensive brands required almost a full turn to release and then the leg sections didn't slide in/out easily. This one is much like my FLM tripod release - 1/4 turn and it releases without any drag. I added the Desmond DMH-2X1 Monopod Tilt Head and found the combination to be absolutely perfect.

Very sturdy and lightweight

Well made very sturdy monopod. Easy to adjust quickly to the height required. Also really light. I even use it as a walking stick when I'm heading out to photograph wildlife. The foot rubber cap did come off and was lost along the way. I've since attached the spike which seems to work well. I've attached a gun shooting rest which I like as it can help steady the large lens but also because it's not attached to the monopod I can easily hand hold when quicker higher shots are needed such as photographing a bird flying overhead. I would recommend this product.

Lightweight and solid

Big weight savings over my aluminum mono. It's solid and topped with a Desmond tilt head it meets all my needs.

I've been handholding zooms of the 100-500mm type for years and never had any issues with mobile wildlife photography. I recently bought a 600f4 which added a couple of pounds, and keeping the camera steady for extended shooting is a chore. The Robus RCM-439 looked like a good choice and it's my first monopod. I have no complaints at all, so I'll mention what I like about it. I like the ease of having only 4 sections, so only 3 areas to lock. It takes only about 1/4 turn to firmly lock each section and there's no doubt about the grip being secure. The monopod is very stiff, no flexing, and it easily handles the weight of a 600mmf4. I'm 5' 11 and probably have an extra 6 of extension available. I use the Desmond DMH-2X1 tilt head (like it) which adds almost 3 to the height. The Robus feels well made, is very light and a good value for the price. Now I can comfortably walk for hours, stopping to shoot for 1-30+ minutes and not giving the gear weight a second thought.

Great monopod.

I've tried a Sirui monopod rated for 22lbs and it flexes even with 8lbs of camera. Since this is rated for 40lbs, has anyone tried it with a cinema camera rig 11-14lbs? I'm looking for something to use for weddings.
Asked by: gabriel
For a 14-lb camera, I would recommend at least 40-lb load capacity. You can never have too much load capacity. All capacity information comes from the manufacturer.
