Oben BE-117 Ball Head with Arca-Type Quick Release

The BE-117 Ball Head from Oben is a lightweight aluminum ball head with a load capacity of 17.6 lb, a large locking knob to control the movement of the ball, and a separate knob for the 360° panning movement. The individual knobs enable higher-precision adjustments to the head than are possible with single-lever heads. Taking panoramic photos is simple thanks to the panoramic scale at the base of the head. A notch in the ball head allows orientation to quickly change between portrait and landscape.

The included Arca-type quick release plate attaches to any camera and is secured in place with the receiver's locking knob, simply and reliably. Two removable safety screws on the bottom of the plate help prevent your camera from accidentally being released prematurely. One bubble level on the clamp and another on the locking knob ensure that the camera will be level with the horizon.

Dual Action Ball Head
The BE-117 dual-action ball head boasts smooth and effortless operation and features separate locking knobs for independently adjusting the ball and panoramic base.
Arca-Type Quick Release
The BE-117 Ball Head includes an Arca-type quick release plate for easily mounting and dismounting a camera. Adding a compatible Oben quick release plate to all your cameras facilitates camera swapping so you can exchange cameras without interrupting your shoot.
Dual Bubble Levels
The ball head features two integrated bubble levels to help make sure the camera is perfectly aligned with the horizon.

I would like to thank Oben for helping me with my issue of the ball head slipping. It really came down to "operator handicap" and a solution was found. Tim from Oben was very proactive in trying to resolve my issue and hats off for all his diligence! Proof that Oben is a great company with excellent customer service!

Excellent Product

I recently received and used the Oben BE-117 ball head with window mount. It is heavy duty and solid. The only possible problem is that when using a long lens you need to be back further from the window, possibly in the back seat. Aside from that it’s excellent and a good value. I would recommend it to anyone needing a window mount.

Is there a way to ensure that the ball head doesn't come off when the panning feature is being used?. Are there screws from the window mount that "screw into" the ball head aside from the female? I notice that there are some protrusions from the window mount . Do those screw into the ball head? I am concerned that the ball will come off!! Thanks.

The BE-117 and Oben Car Mount designed to come off with adequate force in order for you to potentially replace the ballhead with something else. If you would like it to be permanently attached, we recommend using a very strong (and very permanent) thread sealants like Loctite, which you can acquire from hardware stores.

question

Is this ball head compatible with Benro - Classic A3580F Aluminum Tripod, and Nikon D810?
Asked by: Dee V.
Hi Dee, Although I don't have a Benro tripod, I believe that most tripods have a standard size screw that the heads screw into, so I'm guessing it would probably work. I would defer to the experts at B&H to answer that question with authority. Regarding the D810, I have several Nikon cameras and they all work because there is a plate that you screw into the bottom of the camera and it fits into the top of the ball head. So, I feel quite confident your D810 would work. Hope this helps.

Can you turn the top clamp 90 degrees for either a camera base or for a tripod collar foot?
Asked by: Diane
I mainly use this ball head on my platpod plate, it is very easy to use and light weight. I have my L bracket on my camera, so I don't need to make 90 degrees turn.

I am the one that asked this. And while it does fit it does not hold the camera in place. When I put it vertically the camera slides out of place when fully tightened down
