Watson Pro 14.4V 95Wh Slim Li-Ion Battery (Gold Mount)

The Watson Pro 14.4V 95Wh Slim Li-Ion Battery, in a Gold mount, provides up to an 8.5A draw, ideal for most mirrorless and DLSR cameras, small-format cine cameras, lights, and other setups. It also features a 12V, 8.5A D-Tap output for powering monitors, transmitters, and other gear and accessories simultaneously with your main load. Additionally, the slim design makes this battery suitable for many gimbal, stabilizer, and drone applications.

The 95Wh capacity provides approximately 2.5 hours of runtime for a load of 35W. A 5-LED gauge indicates remaining battery life at the press of a button below the LEDs. When capacity drops under 9%, the bottom LED automatically begins blinking as a warning.

For safety, built-in intelligent circuitry protects the battery and connected gear against damage from high current, low voltage, extreme temperatures, or short circuits. The battery simply shuts down to prevent bigger issues. The AM-95-SE also has an ergonomic grip on the sides, allowing for more comfortable handling while also enhancing the look and feel of the battery. Clever design and pick for RED Komodo owners

The only compact footprint battery I found with a USB Type C port. It also has USB A, microUB and D-Tap. It is only slightly bigger overall that the IDX micro model. But the Watson allows me to quickly top off my laptop, drone and Tentacle Sync E or Track E during a break with USB C and my SONY A6400 via microUSB.. The USB A port powers my iPhone with the OEM lightning cable when it needs it. The other highlight is that it lasted 4:08 hours before it was depleted and the Komodo with WiFi ON and screen brightness set to 50% lost power. It was an endurance test to see how long 98Wh could since I couldn't find real-world info anywhere. While filming I just glance at the built in screen and see how much power it has left. There are also 4 leds to indicate the charge level. Finally its weight and size are great at counterbalancing the lens upfront. I shot with a SIGMA 18-35 T2 for a continuous 24h last weekend and the rig felt great with 8Sinn cage + Nato Rail Top Pro handle. 10A continuous max draw. I haven't had to draw more so far the way I use my gear. Highly recommended.

I have only used them a couple times so far, but I've used many different brands in the past, some that had a premium price and the Watson's preformed just as well for much less out of the wallet.

This is a true 98W/ hour battery

By Art Video

I’ve owned previously the already impressive 50 watt-hour version of these batteries, and I also made a video on YouTube specifically for this batteries if you want to see a LOT of information about these awesome batteries! All other information about this battery is already at the BH specs and description so I’ll cut to the chase with the things that really matter as an user and keep this review as direct and efficient as possible. This battery has been made to power your camera rig in the lightest way possible, and in addition to the extreme power possibilities it offers from regular 5V USB all the way to FULL capabilities that an advanced PD (Power Delivery Protocol) USB-C port system can provide as long as YOUR device supports PD, such as a Mac Book Pro, a brand new Samsung Galaxy phone etc. IF your device is a generic type, (most ARE) and if it does not feature PD, keep in mind that, this battery, or ANY other battery that has PD USB-C port will actually send the FULL 20V current to your device, regardless if it only needs 5... 12 volts. I have a FeelWorld LCD monitor, it’s ideally meant to be receiving 12V input, BUT, reading its manual, I discovered that by exploring and experimenting things with my previous Watson VM 50MI battery that it can accept voltage inputs up to 20V! So, even if that monitor is NOT compliant with Power Delivery Protocol, I’m safe. Explaining it better, IF your device you’re attempting to power using the USB-C port is NOT a PD device, the Watson battery simply does NOT KNOW what kind of power your device needs. USB-C PD actually “negotiates” with your device in what kind of power delivery it needs. That’s what PD means and you need to be aware of that when using old or not as sophisticated devices. Bottom line is: what is the thing that REALLY matters about a battery? It’s simply this ONE THING: 1- Can this tiny 98Watt/hour battery truly run on a 100 watt device at full power for 1 hour? That’s a SOLID YES!  I also made a video time lapse showing it’s performance.  Tip: The whole science in knowing how long a battery will run is pretty simple: Calculate the Volts multiplied by the AMPS, and you’ll have the actual WATT-HOUR that battery can do in case your battery label doesn’t already provide that info. Most cases, it does, including the Sony NPF battery including the knock off ones. To understand what watt-hour means: A Watson VM98MI 98 watt- hour battery will run for 1 hour on a 100 watt load, in this case, a 100 watt LED, set to 100%. Turn the brightness on that same light down to 50%, now the same Watson VM98MI battery will run for 2 hours. Run a 98 watt battery on a LUXLI TAIKO 400 watt LED light at 100%, that 98 watt battery will then run for 25 minutes, and so on... This Watson VM98MI Micro V-Mount battery of ANY other Micro V battery from any other brands is not designed for these amperage tortures, even though it CAN AND WILL power your BIG lights without any issues, to what a 98 hour battery can do like any standard 98 hour V mount ordinary battery will.  Bottom line: this battery does what it says it will do. Simply amazing and it is also very pretty, including that blue OLED display. CONS: almost NONE. The only cons I see with this battery is the fact that I have to keep pressing the status button every time I want to see how much juice I got left, and the display and the blue dots go black in about 8 seconds or so. BUT, this is not a Watson issue. Every Micro V-Mount I saw from other manufacturers, their display do the SAME exact thing. Go out in about 8 seconds and the LCD display look is identical. Hopefully in the future, they will all change that software to make the blue dots and the display to remain and STAY LIT for as long as it’s being powered by a device or during charge like the conventional V-Mount batteries do including the Watson ones. And it is not possible to update the firmware if you’re wondering.  On the other hand....The power status LEDs on the standard Watson and other brands will only go out after pressing the status button if they’re not being powered or charged. Again, as soon as you plug on those batteries, those LED bars DO stay lit all the time until you eject the battery or turn the power off from the device being used. That’s what I want to see on the Micro V-Mount batteries. Highly recommend these Watson batteries, and I know every single aspect of these batteries from previous use which I have an entire line of Watson batteries to speak about.  I’m a real shooter, just like most of you professionals and I take these batteries in the real world situations doing corporate, commercial, medical and wedding cinematography instead of being just a hobbyist playing with gear. I demand steady and reliable performance and I trust it and the video shows what the battery can do. While that may be possible, we simply do not recommend that. This is not meant to substitute for an AC Power Supply which is essentially what such a work flow would be.
