This represents everything I hate about overpriced gear in this industry. It's literally a spring, a screw with a ball, and some plastic. It works, it's just dumb that we have to pay this much.

Is the ball attachment at the top removable? Is it just screwed into either a 1/4-20 or 3/8 hole? Or is it permanently affixed?
