Canon PowerShot G5 X Mark II Digital Camera
Key Features
  • 20.2MP 1" Stacked CMOS Sensor
  • DIGIC 8 Image Processor
  • 5x Optical Zoom f/1.8-2.8 Lens
  • 24-120mm (35mm Equivalent)
Packing apt imaging capabilities within a svelte-yet-versatile design, the Canon PowerShot G5 X Mark II is an advanced compact camera featuring a large sensor, fast processing, and a flexible zoom lens. The 20.1MP 1" CMOS sensor uses a stacked design, which couples with the DIGIC 8 image processor to realize fast autofocus performance, quick full resolution shooting up to 20 fps, and UHD 4K30p video recording. Complementing the sensor and processor is a 5x zoom lens, which covers a 24-120mm equivalent focal length range for wide-angle to short-telephoto fields of view. An f/1.8-2.8 maximum aperture range suits working in difficult lighting conditions as does an Optical Image Stabilizer, which compensates for the effects of camera shake. Rounding out the G5 X Mark II's design, the camera features a pop-up 2.36m-dot electronic viewfinder, 180° tilting touchscreen LCD, and has both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for wirelessly connecting to a mobile device.

Does it have any capabilities for closeups, e.g. parallax correction?
Asked by: David
I have never run into an issue that required a parallax correction. I've had the camera for better than a year now. I do shoot closeups of flowers. I have the camera for those times when I'm driving around and I see something interesting and I don't have an SLR with me.

Can a neck strap be used with this camera? If yes, what would you recommend. Thank you.
Asked by: WAYNE J
You could use a camera strap, as there is an anchor point on each side of the camera. I would use a Peak Design Leash, as the Peak Design anchor links will fit onto the G5X Mark II camera.

a neck strap for Canon G5x ?
Asked by: Bonnie
I use a Peak Design Leash with the Canon G5X Mark II. It works great. However, the eyelets on the G5X are tiny and I could not thread the Peak Design connectors through the eyelets. This was frustrating. I eventually found a pair of split O-rings to connect to the camera first, and then I attached the Peak Design connectors to the split O-rings.

Can you bend the flash to bounce off of the ceiling (like the RX100 series)? Previous versions of the flash only bent back 45 degrees. I was hoping this one bent back the full 90 degrees to achieve a nice ceiling bounce.
Asked by: Jordan
Contrary to what B&H staff reported, you can indeed bend the popup flash backward and bounce it. I was surprised after reading here that you can't, but it absolutely does work!
