I tried another hard case first before finding this one. It is too thick and not for mobile use. This case is perfect. Snug but not tight for the camera with another zippered pouch for extra battery and memory card. Belt loop and carabiner on the back for transport and it checks all the boxes. Sorry I didn't find this one the first time I looked.

A well designed case that fits my wife’s camera well. Soft material with a side pocket for batteries and cards. Better than any I saw on Amazon.

The description says the case will hold a G5X mkII. Will it hold the original G5X which is slightly larger?

Does this case have "accordion" sides of thinner material that keep the camera from tipping out to either side when fully unzipped, so that camera can only come straight up and out?

No, the Canon EDC-100 does not have fabrics on the sides of its zippers, like in an "accordion-style".
