If you have invested in the GFX system, I highly recommend adding this lens to your lineup. Amazing value compared to the GFX Glen's lineup for compact lens. Crystal sharp beautiful color perfect focal length can't beat it.

I wanted a lens that would not stick out when I'm doing street photography. When people see those loooong lenses, they tend not to let me get candid shots.

Overpriced but does the job

If you want a somewhat pancake lens for the GF system to use for street photography this is really the only game in town - not as high-quality images as some of the nearby primes but it is small and unobtrusive and has a relatively fast aperture and focusing speed. The 32-64 f4 zoom covers the same focal length and is almost as fast with image quality that is higher but it is much larger, heavier, and pricier.

Sharp and a bit moody, it does what I want. Wish they made a 50mm with a wider aperture.

Love this lens.

Sharp and quality lens. Light and compact and a great alternative to the 35mm, but without the typical wide-angle distortion. It's crazy fast and accurate at auto focusing. Strongly recommend it.

Choice re cpl filter? A 62mm - will lens hood still work? Or a 43mm screwed into the lens hood?
Asked by: Robert
The FUJIFILM GF 50mm f/3.5 R LM WR Lens uses a 62mm filter thread. And you can add that size filter to the lens. The hood that the lens comes with can screw into a filter that has that has a front thread. but you might get some vignette when using it with a filter. This is is some good polarizing filter options, https://bhpho.to/3CTCVqU

What is the aperture equivalent of a 35 mm system compared to f/3.5 of this lens?
Asked by: Achim
The aperture of the FUJIFILM GF 50mm f/3.5 R LM WR is the same as for any 50mm f/3.5 lens--it's a ratio of focal length to effective aperture diameter, so there is no difference between different formats, only different focal lengths.

does the lens come with a hood ?
Asked by: Herve
As mentioned previously, there is a small metal hood included which screws on to the front of the lens and has its own 43mm lens cap. Worth mentioning, if youre going to use basic filters that do not have threading for filter stacking, you cannot use the hood at the same time. Having said that, I personally have not felt the need to use the hood over the 2 years Ive owned this lens. The optical coatings and element design with the small entrance pupil do quite a bit to eliminate flare and ghosting. I have several photos with the sun directly in the frame, and there are no that I can directly attribute to the lens. (Prismatic reflections off of the image sensors color filter array are occasionally present, but thats a problem for all digital cameras and not specific to Fujifilm or this lens.) I hope this helps.

Do you notice a light whirring noise coming from the lens when attached to camera body? (Not when focusing but when moving/shaking the camera)
Asked by: Yitian
Yes. Much like other mirrorless camera lenses I have used with a linear motor, including some made by Fujifilm for the XF mount (the XF 90mm f/2 R WR LM is probably a more well-known yet extreme case), the floating elements driven by the linear autofocus motors make a quiet whirring or chattering noise when the camera is on. This is the micro motors trying to keep the focusing elements in place as you move. You may also hear the elements making a dull thud when the camera is off or the lens is detached from the camera. Its nothing to worry about. Hope this helps.
