Genaray Essential 500 II Daylight Overview

The Spectro LED Essential 500IID Daylight LED Light Panel by Genaray is a 504 LED panel with a color temperature that's a solid daylight-balanced 5600K. It's ideal when a natural daylight look is needed in the studio. It also blends seamlessly with ambient light in locations dominated by windows, and with other daylight-balanced fixtures. The fixture's high CRI/TLCI ratings of 96 are indicators of impressive accuracy in color rendering. Light intensity is adjustable, from 0 to 100% without flicker, allowing shooting at high frame rates for slow motion.

The Spectro LED Essential 500IID offers a 60° flood beam spread for adequate coverage with enough punch for long-throw work. The 13.6 x 9.25 x 2.8" panel weighs just 2.5 lb, and with its slim profile, it can be placed in areas that traditional fixtures just can't go. Another benefit of using LEDs is low power draw, and although the 500II consumes just 40W of power, it outputs many times that number, providing impressive output for your work. For a larger array with more power, Genaray has included cold shoe mounts to allow you to stack up to three units for triple the power.

Yet another example of the light's versatility is its power options. The 500IID is ready for worldwide use thanks to the included 100 to 240 VAC adapter, but the fixture also has two ports that accept separately purchased NP-F-type batteries for situations where mains power is unavailable.

5600K Daylight-Balanced Output
Color temperature is a daylight-balanced 5600K to blend seamlessly with outdoor ambient light and simulates bright natural daylight in the studio. The 500IID's high CRI 96.1 / TLCI 96 ratings are indicators of superior accuracy in color rendering.
Flicker-Free Variable Light Intensity
The Spectro LED is dimmable from 0 to 100% without filters or color shift. The light is also flicker-free allowing shooting at high frame rates for slow motion.
AC or Battery Power Options
The fixture is ready for worldwide use via the included 100 to 240 VAC adapter, but the SP-E-500II has two ports that accept separately purchased NP-F-type batteries when mains power is unavailable.
Cool Operation
The Spectro LED runs with barely perceptible warmth, so you can move the light close to your subjects without causing them discomfort.
Mounting and Stacking Options
The light has an industry-standard 5/8" receiver for stand-mounting as well as 1/4"-20 top and bottom taps, while the pre-installed yoke is removable to allow the fixture to be vertically or horizontally stand-mounted. You can also stack up to three units to create a large array using the included cold shoe mounts.

Genaray Essential 500 II Daylight Reviews

Nice While They Work

By Charles

I purchased six of these less than two years ago (December '23). I use them perhaps 3,000 to 3,500 hours per year. The specs say that they are expected to last for 50,000 hours. That would be about 14 years at my usage. By the time they were 21 months old, 4 out of the six lamps had stopped working. I tried swapping external power supplies just to make sure the external power wasn't the problem. The panels themselves are dead. Other than that, I liked them while they still worked.

I heard about these lights from another painter and when I had enough money I purchased this set! The lights are truly marvelous. I have a dark corner studio and these give me the flexibility of aiming the light where I need it! I highly recommend. I will also use these for painting from life.
