Kodak has changed a lot in the last few years- a lot of the old chemicals were discontinued and then brought back. I wish I could get this in the 5 gallon container, but it seems that Kodak no longer sells it. Kodak insists that hardener is no longer needed, but they obviously haven't worked in a darkroom with soft water. Even though the newer films do not need hardener in the fix nearly as much as they used to, there is still fiber based glossy prints which are so much better when fixer with hardener is used.i I get it that it is easier to wash off prints when a non hardening fixer is used, but laziness often gets one in trouble- In this case, it is very evident when non hardening fixer is used for glossy fiber paper when soft water is used for the wash. I guarantee that darkrooms in places with soft water will cause major problems for people used to hard water- in other words, Kodak- please bring back the 5 gallon rapid fixer (solution A) along with the hardener (solution B). I have used Kodak chemicals for 50 years, and I would hate to quit now.

Once the A & B solution is mixed to the correct dilution, does it need to be stored in an air tight container or is the Delta 1 bottle OK?

When one dilutes developer, it would be important to store in an air tight container. But when storing some fixer, the Delta 1 bottle should be OK.

can you use just part A as a fixer? or do you need part b mixed? so can this be used as a fixer sans harder?

Yes just use part A. Part B is a hardener for films and some kinds of paper but mainly unnecessary.
