The Sony XLR-K3M is a dual-channel digital XLR audio adapter that allows you to connect microphones and other audio sources to cameras equipped with a Multi Interface Shoe. Released alongside the a7R IV, which benefits from its built-in digital audio interface, the adapter is able to produce its best quality by delivering a digital audio stream directly to the camera through the Multi Interface Shoe. Other Sony cameras with the standard MI Shoe can still make use of the microphone as there is a selectable digital/analog output.

When first released the files from this device and the A7siii (mp4 24 bit) were not compatible with the major NLEs. Is the 24 bit mp4 files now compatible with Davinci and Final Cut?

The ECM-XM1 Shotgun Microphone included with the Sony XLR-K3M Dual-Channel Digital XLR Audio Adapter Kit with Shotgun Microphone is a mono mic. There is not an alternate version to support multiple microphones.

I read through all the Qs and still feel I'm getting conflicting answers, so I'll ask my specific question here. Can I input TWO mics into the XLR channels, and then a stereo mic into the 3.5mm input, and record all of them at the same time (with the 24bit 4 channel option in the a7s iii)??? Thank you!!
Yes, you can connect microphones to all three inputs on the XLR-K3M and record them simultaneously onto four channels of audio with the a7S III. Here are instructions based on information provided by Sony which apply to the a7S III and any of the Sony cameras that support 4-channel audio recording:
To record the input audio from the INPUT1 jack(XLR) to the CH1 channel on the attached camera; the input audio from the INPUT2 jack (XLR) to the CH2 channel; and the input audio from the INPUT3 jack (3.5mm) to the CH3 and CH4 channels, set the switch to “IN1·IN2.”
To record the input audio from the INPUT3 (3.5mm) jack to the CH1 and CH2 channels on the attached camera; the input audio from the INPUT1 jack (XLR) to the CH3 channel; and the input audio from the INPUT2 jack (XLR) to the CH4 channel, set the switch to “IN3.”

Just to set this straight: can you record four channels (XLR 1, XLR 2 & 3.5 mm stereo) with the A7S III?
No, the XLR-K3M is a two-channel adapter kit designed for Sony cameras that use their Multi Interface Shoe. The kit includes the XLR-A3M two-channel mixer/adapter and ECM-XM1 shotgun microphone. Only two microphones can be connected to the XLR-A3M - one on each of the XLR-1/4" combo jack inputs or one single stereo mic connected to the stereo 3.5mm mini jack input.
