3Dconnexion CadMouse Pro Reviews
Old GizaHead Guy
I have not used a mouse since 1995 and love the 3Dconnexion mouse. I am learning Blender and got comfortable with it within 1/2 an hour. B&H got it from NY to Santa Cruz, Ca. in a couple of days.
One of the better mice available today.
In use, these aren't too bad on the hand .My experience has shown that this model can be expected to last 3 to 4 years.
Great Mouse
Works great for Revit - wish that I would have found this sooner.
Good addition for interfacing to Resolve
I am using this mouse for all my computer work, but I made the decision to buy specifically for use with DaVinci Resolve. It works very well for both editing and color correction. I am still customizing it for specific activities in Resolve that are not part of the supplied CadMouse tool sets. On successful completion of this, I would upgrade my rating to 5 stars.
Beauty!
Got this for 80 bucks cheaper at B&H with free shipping. was 170 cad, Amazon was 270cad so was definitely worth the wait being shipped from new jersey to Edmonton . This mouse is awesome feels nice in my big fat farm boy hands. The scrolling button is smooth but also precise I like the little snap when it rolls over the buttons are comfortably placed. But what really ties it together is the 3dconnexion software. Being able to program short cuts for each button using key strokes is sweet. You can program shortcuts for each program and it changes over when you select the program. Brilliant. Didn't take long to get used to it. Definitely want to get a spacemouse next.
bad design
This is my second review since I have had it for 4 months. I think I originally said it was ok but now after 4 months I absolutely hate it. Here is why and for reference I am on Linux and they don't have Linux drivers nor and I using it in a cad app. 1) The gravity wheel is extremely annoying. it typically vastly over shoots anything useful in a window with a scrollbar. Then it overshoots it again when I try to go back. 2) It is too small. I have fairly small hands and I feel it is too small. 3) The buttons by the thumb are in entirely the wrong place. I am hitting them by accident constantly and having to undo that command. 4) It doesn't always wake up when I restart the computer and that takes effort to unplug the little fob to get it to wake up. 5) You cannot use the usb cable instead of the fob to run the mouse. When the cord is plugged in it is in recharge mode and is basically a brick until you unplug it. Some of these problem may not exist on Windows with the driver but I don't know. Some are just terrible design.
Best mouse for 3D work
This mouse is a must have for anyone working with a 3D program that requires a middle mouse button. At first glance the mouse looks like any other mouse with a scroll wheel. Look closer. Between the left and right button is a real middle mouse button needed for navigating 3D space in most programs. Using a clickable scroll wheel instead of a real mouse button just doesn't work for me. The activation force required for clicking a scroll wheel is cramp inducing and it's too easy to accidentally scroll (zoom) at the same time. The CadMouse solves this problem with the extra button. I have a 3Dconnexion Space Mouse as well, so I don't know how I missed this gem. It's perfect for 3D on its own or as a Space Mouse companion. Thanks 3Dconnxion!
