The Denon Rack Mount Kit for AVR-X6500H and AVR-X4500H Receivers (B&H # DERMR6545) is not officially designed to Denon AVR-X6800H 11.4-Channel Network A/V Receiver (B&H # DEAVRX6800H), but this receiver has the same dimensions as the compatible AVR-X4500H receiver. The AVR-X6800H might technically fit, but it would be best to use a rack mount kit designated by the manufacturer as compatible.

Will this kit, on an X6700H, cause the volume knob on the AVR to protrude out past the front of the rack, or will it recess the AVR so the volume knob is flush/even with the front of the rack?
According to Denon customer support, this kit is not compatible with the AVR-X6700H. The compatible Kit would be the RMR3323 - BH #DERMR3313 • MFR #RMR3313. As per your question, the volume knob protrudes 1.3" from the front of the rack ears.
