Clarity requested: I have some Standard (USB 2?) USB plugs for disc drive & printer. My Mac has only one USB port. Remainder are USB 3 / C etc. Can this Hub - or another Hub will meet my need for additional USB 2 ports?

Can I connect a card reader and external hard drive to the port and then read card content directly to the external hard drive through my computer without first downloading to the computer?
